Haunted Houses at Six Flags St. Louis Overview

There are four Houses in total. Six Flags uses a sliding pay scale to match the demand. If you want one house only it will run you about 5 dollars. If instead, you want all four, then it is around 20 on Fridays and Sundays, then 30 on Saturdays. You will need to have paid for each attraction before they will let you into the line. You can either do that on your phone by scanning a QR code inside the park or by visiting the haunted house headquarters. All of the houses will have a wait time of around 30 minutes or so. You can purchase another pass which will allow you to skip those as well for an additional fee which is double the amount of the regular pass.

One of the creatures is shown in daylight which is all black and crouched like a bird.

Haunted Houses at Six Flags St. Louis Least Favorite Oddball’s Funhouse.

Our least favorite of the haunted houses is Oddball’s FunHouse. This is themed to Evil clowns and is located Located in the exit Arcade from Thunder River. That means it is after Pandemonium and before Supergirl. Once you enter the walls are all black and they have Blacklights on to make all the weird coloring of the clowns stand out. If clowns really freak you out then maybe this one will be higher on the list for you.

For us, this seemed a little sparse. Mostly just a FunHouse with the occasional “Gotcha” moment. Oddball is pretty mild as they go. We consider this one more of a family haunted house. There is nothing too disturbing inside.

Number three goes to Uncaged.

Uncaged is a slight improvement on Oddball but this still isn’t anything special. It is Located through the arcade when exiting Joker Inc. and by Ninja. You are set to walk through an abandoned town where animals have genetically been altered to kill humans. This one is outside and is filled with relics of the past. This feels like the Six Flags St. Louis graveyard.

While we think this one is fun it still just isn’t all that scary. Another family haunted house. The creatures themselves do look really great. It just fails to impress much because of how short and tame it is.

Number two is the new Creatures of the Corn.

We really liked the new haunted attraction for this year Creatures of the Corn. It is located in Tidal Wave’s old plot of land, right next to Skyscreamers and Boomerang. The haunted corn maze is a classic for a good reason. Here it is used to good effect. A couple of very good “Gotcha” scares and a great layout helps this one stand out. Out of all of them, this one is by far the most family-friendly.

There is even a photo opportunity at the end which was a great way to finish it up. The issue is that too much of it can be seen and then of course spoiled by looking out over it while you are standing in the long line. Some better effort to obscure it would have been a great idea. Also, it is just too short. None of these houses are very long but this seemed the shortest to us.

Photo opportunity has a picture frame, some corn, and two locals.

The Best of the Haunted Houses at Six Flags St. Louis goes to The Slaughter House.

For us, it really isn’t even a contest here. The Slaughter House is by far the best! We don’t judge any of these too harshly but if we went to just a normal haunted house outside of a theme park they would all disappoint badly except for this one.

It is located right between the River King Mine Train and Moose Burger Lodge. The theme is that pigs somehow are walking and have taken to running The Slaughter House now. The only issue is that it is humans that they have a taste for.

The other three feel like family haunted houses. This one is not! The park pulls out all the stops for this one. Truly disturbing imagery and psychological tricks are used to make this the scariest of them. If you are only going to do one of the haunted houses make sure it is the Slaughter House!

The actors at The Slaughter House are humanoid Pigs.

Wrapping it Up

The collection is okay here if you have your expectations set correctly. 3 of the 4 are not very scary. We would have been happier if they had reversed it. Make one (Creatures of the Corn) for families and have the rest for adults. Fright Fest is always a lot of fun, so if here and you are willing to spend the money, then we would recommend this year’s lineup. Just be warned that with the exception of The Slaughter House these are mostly family-friendly haunted houses.

One of the Freaks scaring the mass of people.
