Scrambler at Worlds of Fun Review

Scrambler at Worlds of Fun has been operating since 1973, designed and manufactured by Eli Bridge Company from their Scrambler Model. Riders take a spin on this staple ride of theme parks everywhere. This is one of the last surviving rides that opened with the Worlds of Fun! It offers everything you expect from a classic ride type such as this.

Scrambler at Worlds of Fun Experience

Scrambler sits towards the front of the park in the Scandinavia section, past Nordic Chaser and before Sea Dragon. While this can attract a lot of riders, it is rare to wait in a long line. Riders must be 48 inches to ride alone, but anyone between 36 and 48 can ride if an adult accompanies them. You will be kept safe by a safety belt and a lap bar attached to the door that closes on your gondola. Once the ride attendant has checked all restraints, prepare to get scrambled.

Riders can sit three per gondola. From here, the typical Scrambler ride takes place. Four gondolas will spin around, which are connected to three other sections. The ride is a combination of great lateral forces and near-miss encounters. In total, the ride lasts about 2 minutes. Once Scrambler comes to a complete stop, you can safely exit the ride.

Scrambler at Worlds of Fun: The Positives

The combination of laterals that Scrambler offer always remains the same. Every time you whip back to the other side, it feels very satisfying. However, the near-miss elements make this so much fun to ride.

Scramblers are spinning rides, but that isn’t quite right. Their sense of motion doesn’t make those sensitive to spinning quite as queasy. At least, that is our experience.

Worlds of Fun did not harm the experience. There is no need to try and reinvent the wheel for a ride like this. The surrounding area is beautiful. The theming is there and does its job. All in all, what you would expect from this great park.

The Negatives

As much as we love rides like this, there is a lack of motion variance that will make this one fun but not one to be marathoned. Things like having them spin the other way or adding some tilt to the structure during the ride. Essentially you get as you would expect. Just nothing about this model to help set it apart from every other model of its kind.

Final Verdict

Scrambler at Worlds of Fun is a solid ride. It offers all the great forces and near-miss encounters that you want. It is well-maintained and sits on a beautiful piece of land. Yet it is impossible to get very excited about a ride like this since it is just the same as every other park you have ever been to has this same ride. Still, it is a solid addition to this park’s stellar lineup of flat rides. Because of these reasons, Scrambler at Worlds of Fun gets an eight out of ten.
