Cyclone Sams at Worlds of Fun entrance building just looks like a normal building with little indication on what is outside.

Cyclone Sams at Worlds of Fun

Cyclone Sams at Worlds of Fun has been in operation since 1995. Designed and manufactured by Chance Rides from their Wipeout line. A spinning ride that is inside and adds in sound, lighting, and environmental effects to overwhelm your senses. This is a hidden gem at the park and isn’t to be missed. For those that love a lot of intensity!

Cyclone Sams at Worlds of Fun Experience

Cyclone Sams at Worlds of Fun sits at the back of the park in the Americana Section. Located right next to Planet Snoopy and Timber Wolf. The line moves very slowly. We recommend you prioritize this ride for early in the day. If the line is out of the building expect to wait about an hour. Riders must be at least 48 inches in order to ride. You will be kept safe by a seatbelt. Once the ride attendants have checked all restraints the fun can begin!

Cyclone Sams at Worlds of Fun queue line just has a mass of people and theming but nothing to give away what is about to happen.

The whole ride will spin and move about inside the building. While it is spinning the ride will also tilt at odd angles while going up and down. A very long ride clocking in at about 2 and a half minutes. When the ride has come to a complete stop the ride attendant will give the all-clear, you are able to unbuckle and exit the ride safely.

Cyclone Sams at Worlds of Fun: The Good

They took what would be an everyday spinning ride and made it into something truly special. Even without the effects, this would be a fun ride. The spinning and tilting are good on their own. Yet if this was just a spinning ride outside we wouldn’t be singing its praises.

It is all the things they did to add to the experience that makes Cyclone Sams a ride that cannot be missed. From the second you get into the line the theming is working on you. Building up fear and anticipation for what is to come. The muffled sound effects and the faint screams heard within just ratchet things up, even before you get to the ride itself.

The seats with seatbelts.

When the ride begins and starts to spin, tilt, and lift up it is accompanied by an all-outli assault on your senses. It gives the sensation of being inside a tornado. In darkness until lightning strikes. The sound of Thunder is Loud. They blow air into the building. Black lighting is used to make you see things flying past you. When it is all over and you go back outside into the sunlight, it feels like you have stepped out of another dimension. Bravo to Worlds of Fun for creating one of the most unique theme park experiences we have ever had.

The Bad

While we didn’t have an issue, it is possible that all the theatrics might overwhelm some. Outside of that, we are having a hard time coming up with any drawbacks. The line will move very slowly but it is worth waiting for.

People exiting the ride have a disorientated look to them.

Final Verdict

Cyclone Sams at Worlds of Fun is a wonderful addition to the park. While it may be the roller coasters that get you to the park we implore you to make time to experience this ride. A review will not do justice to how cool of a ride this is. The drawbacks are barely worth mentioning. Simply put this is a masterpiece and one of the greatest experiences to be had at the park. Because of these reasons, Cyclone Sams at Worlds of Fun gets a ten out of ten!

On the wall is a some flying pigs and a farmhouse.

That’s my video you used here! I’m honored that you like my video enough to use it! It’s funny because I literally just left my phone recording against the wall of the building, hoping I’d catch even SOME of the ride! I was thrilled to realize I actually got a pretty good shot! And at the very end, you’ll notice someone point out the camera and wave. That was me! I always have to ride this one, every time I go! I love it!
