Supergirl Sky Flyer at Six Flags St. Louis

Supergirl Sky Flyer at Six Flags St. Louis has been in operation since 2019. It was designed and manufactured by Zamperla. This sits on the same plot of land as an old favorites of mine, the Highland Fling. Both rides share a lot in common. Is Supergirl an improvement over the Highland fling?

Is Supergirl Sky Flyer an upgrade?

In some ways yes and in some ways no. Let’s start off with some things that are better about Supergirl. On the plus I think that it is more intense than the Highland Fling was. This is due to Supergirl being out in the fresh air, while the Highland Fling you would sit inside a car that was closed.

I like the theming Supergirl has in the line queue. The ride itself has that beautiful red, white, and blue that is associated with Supergirl. Though if a ride at Six Flags St. Louis was going to be called Supergirl Sky flyer then I think it would fit the ride SkyScreamers much better. The biggest plus that I have for Supergirl is that it has the most impressive light package in the park! Supergirl all lit up, and spinning at night time is truly beautiful.

Supergirl Sky Flyer weakness?

There is just one huge fatal flaw to Supergirl that stops it from being a ride that I can ever fully embrace. With the Highland Fling you were able to sit inside the car with you, and one friend comfortably. Three if you really wanted to get to know each other better. Supergirl instead opted for one-row seating. Not only does this make capacity on busy days horrible, but it makes for an isolating ride experience.

Roller coaster manufacturer Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) has been doing very well off of their raptor models. A single rail roller coaster that has only single-row seating. I have been very perplexed at the popularity of this type of decision. I can at least get more on board with it being on a roller coaster than I can on a flat ride like this.

Final verdict

When is Supergirl first started flying at Six Flags St. Louis I rode it a couple of times. I will ride it if a group of friends I am with wants to ride it, but I do not ever ride this of my own volition. I just don’t see the point. Feel free to disregard the negativity on this review if single seating doesn’t bug you. It is a fun experience, and the forces are really good. For what I like about a theme park attraction, this ride just does not fit the bill. I would rather ride the Highland Fling with a friend. On a scale of one to ten, I would give Supergirl a three.

Pros: Decent theming, Lighting package, forceful

Cons: Single seating
