Tsunami Soaker has been operating at Six Flags St. Louis since 2014. This is a Twist ‘n’ Splash model designed and manufactured by Mack Rides. It is one of three water rides in the main park, away from Hurricane Harbor.
What is Tsunami Soaker?
I am a huge fan of the Twist ‘n’ Splash model. You sit in one of nine boats, and each with six outward-facing water cannons. Once the ride begins, the boats spin, and the platform that the boat sits on spins as well. You can take aim, and shoot the riders in the other boats. All while trying to take cover behind your shield. Not content with just that, then you can also squirt people in line waiting to ride, and also people walking by! But be warned there are guns outside the attraction, and in the line, so they can get you back.
Is Tsunami Soaker worth riding?
I love everything about this! Family against family, or you against everyone else, this is just a great time. Of course, only if you enjoy getting soaked while at a theme park. My family and I have had some truly great times riding Tsunami Soaker. St. Louis summers can be very hot, and this really does the trick.
There are some things about Tsunami Soaker that I don’t like. I am sad to report that all too often this ride has things wrong with it. They go on not fixed, for long periods of time. Hopefully, that trend will not continue. Yet year after year, boats won’t work, or some of the water cannons won’t work. It’s a shame because I want to be over the moon about this ride. Yet consistently, maintenance issues with it cause it to be a source of frustration. It’s because I know what it can be, and should be. If they can get a handle on that, then this ride will reign supreme.
Final Thoughts
Tsunami Soaker is an incredibly great addition to Six Flags St. Louis. Though only when it’s working as expected. Hopefully, they address the issues, because it would be a shame if its technical problems got it removed from the park. Because of this, scoring this one was hard for me. Trying to weigh how I feel about this Twist ‘n’ Splash model while keeping in mind how this specific one has been trending. On a scale of one to ten, I give Tsunami Soaker a seven.
Pros: Fun for riders, those in queue, and people walking by
Cons: Maintenance issues
Fun Fact: This sits on the same plot of land as the old wheel barrel attraction. The Wheel Barrels were just a variation on the normal Teacup ride. Tsunami Soaker is just a Teacup ride with water cannons.
