Hurricane Harbor at Six Flags St. Louis

Hurricane Harbor at Six Flags St. Louis is the park’s attached water park. This Theme Park has been open since June 5th, 1971. Many updates have been given to the park since then, yet I don’t think that any single edition has ever been as value-adding as what they had and plan for the 2006 operating year. It was the single biggest expansion in the history of the park.

Hurricane Harbor at Six Flags: Roller Coasters vs. Water-Slides

I’ll admit that while I like water parks it is roller coasters that get me to theme parks. Prior to 2006, I had never actually been into a water park. I like swimming yet if I was going to spend the time and the money I would rather go to Roller Coasters.

That is why the business model that Six Flags St. Louis chose for Hurricane Harbor is so genius. Regardless if you’re a one-day admission or a Diamond Elite Member you have free reign of Hurricane Harbor. There are zero up charge! I think the price of a season’s pass is worth it alone for the value that is Hurricane Harbor. Besides the fact that you have an entire theme park, with roller coasters attached!

Hurricane Harbor at Six Flags: The Great

The lineup of attractions is very solid. While not as big as some of the other water parks in the Six Flags chain, Six Flags St. Louis has something for everybody.  My favorite attractions at Hurricane Harbor are the wave pool called Hurricane Bay, and the kid’s water playground Hook’s Lagoon. Also in the top spot but just not as high would be Big Kahuna and Bonzai Pipeline.

Middle of the Road

The middle-tier attractions would be Tube Slides, Tornado, and the park’s lazy river called Gulley Washer Creek. Nothing wrong with these but I probably wouldn’t visit the water park for just them.

The Just Okay

On the bottom tier, I would put Wahoo Racer and Typhoon Twister. To be clear I don’t think either one of these is a bad ride. These just happen to be on the lower tier.

Combine These with the fun setting, some good shopping, and a nice assortment of restaurants, and you have the perfect makings for a fun outing for you and your group.

Final Verdict

I cannot state enough how much of a value add this is for Six Flags, St. Louis. I would never blame them if they started making Hurricane Harbor a separate upcharge to admission to the park. Though I think it would be a mistake. It is one of the biggest pluses of this park. I highly recommend if you’re planning a trip to Six Flags, St. Louis, during the summer months that you take some time out to head to Hurricane Harbor. On a scale of one to ten, I give this Hurricane Harbor a nine.
