The Tube Slides at Six Flags St. Louis have been in operation since June 5th, 1999. Making this one of the original attractions that opened with Hurricane Harbor. The Tube Slides consist of four individual slides that single riders traverse on an innertube.
Tube Slides at Six Flags: Overview
There are actually four different Tube Slides in this one installation. Consisting of Piranha (red), Man-O-War (yellow), Hammerhead (green), and Stingray (teal). Each one is different than the other, yet the theme is pretty much the same throughout.
You slide down on an innertube into dark twisty turns. Every once in a while an opening will give you some sunlight often followed by a waterfall. Finally ending in a splashdown into the pool at the bottom.
Tube Slides at Six Flags: The Positive
Having four different slides to choose from will keep you coming back. My personal favorite is the green one, but I like going down any of them.
I love the feeling of speed that you get in these. Oftentimes you’ll be in complete darkness. So not knowing what’s going on really tricks your brain into thinking that you’re going faster than you actually are. It’s great fun, yet I find it an isolating experience.
The Negative
I always am looking for rides at amusement parks to provide an experience that can be had with friends or family. While you can go up the line queue together, there is no sharing this ride together.
On a couple of occasions, I have had the innertube slip out from underneath me. Luckily Six Flags St. Louis has a policy of not sending another rider until you have shown up at the bottom. But I’ve had a couple of panicked moments trying desperately to scoot down the slides.
Final Verdict
I like the Tube Slides. They give a good thrill, and with the combination of four different tubes, you can spend a lot of time here, and never get bored. Just wish I could share the experience. On a scale of one to ten, I gave the Tube Slides a Seven.
Pros: Four rides in one, feels fast
Cons: Single rider only
