Hurricane Bay at Six Flags St. Louis

Hurricane Bay at Six Flags St. Louis Has been an operation since June 5th, 1999. Making this one of the original rides that opened with Hurricane Harbor. It is the park’s wave pool. Manufactured by Aquatic Development Group, this has been cooling off and providing mild thrills for guests since its opening. I consider this the centerpiece of Hurricane Harbor.

Hurricane Bay at Six Flags is for everybody

Not all the attractions at this water park are for everybody. Yet if there’s one place that everyone goes if they visit Hurricane Harbor it is Hurricane Bay. It’s a massive 30,000 square-foot pool that simulates being at the beach.

Even before you get to the pool, there is a lounge area where you can sit out in beach-style chairs, and enjoy your day. Once you want to get in the pool there’s a very shallow area for those that don’t want to go too deep. Go a little bit further, and you will end up in the deep end. Best of all every couple of minutes an alarm will sound, and the waves begin.

Hurricane Bay at Six Flags never gets old.

The wave pool function at Hurricane Bay is not original to Six Flags St. Louis. Just about all, if not every water park has one of these. However that doesn’t make this not special. The uproar that you can hear from excited swimmers whenever that siren goes off always makes me smile. Watching little kids with their parents battle back the waves, well it never gets old.

The setting looks really cool as well. It looks like a beach in the beginning. Then towards the deepest, it looks like you’re heading towards a volcano. It’s very impressive looking, especially for theming at a Six Flags attraction.

Buzzkill

The only complaint I have isn’t really a downside. There are a lot of lifeguards on duty. While they are just trying to keep everybody safe, sometimes it can be pretty hard to have a good time with them constantly blowing their whistles, and telling people to stop doing this or that. Though I understand Six Flags does not want any catastrophes on their watch. Nevertheless, it does seem to flatten the mood though. I complain yet I have no other suggestion on how to fix this.

Final Verdict

Hurricane Bay is the central hub of this water park. A wonderful attraction that adds tremendous value to your admission. No matter if you’re on a family outing, or teenagers looking for fun, you will have a great time. On a scale of one to ten, I give Hurricane Bay a 10.

Pros: Volcano setting, Appeals to any age, Waves

Cons: Constant whistle blowing
