SkyScreamer at Six Flags St. Louis

SkyScreamer premiered at Six Flags St. Louis in 2011. This is the park’s Star flyer model. Which was designed, and manufactured by Funtime. It stands at 236 feet with a speed of 45 mph.

How does it fly?

I find SkyScreamer to be a little deceptive. When examining the ride from in the queue, you see that it does go up high, and spins, but something about it just looks mild. Even as the ride starts it is just pretty much good fun. Up until the point that it gets pretty high up in the air. All of a sudden the engine kicks in. It’s at this point, if you are not good with spinning, that you will start regretting this decision.

SkyScreamer analysis

I am not great with spinning rides. I have a lower tolerance. This means that I can only do one or two rides that do a lot of spinning on any given day. I like SkyScreamer quite a bit, but it’s not one I will ride on each visit.

I really love the view when up at the top. It is hard to really take a focused look at everything, but the land that Six Flags St. Louis surrounds is pretty when seen from that high above. For a ride that doesn’t look as intense, when that motor really does kick in, the excitement level goes way up! I like the fact that it’s a two-seater. That way you can experience with someone you came with. I have been a little dismayed at the current trend in the theme park industry to offer rides that focus on single seating. Theme parks are meant to be a communal experience.

There really is no true negative to this ride. I am not a person who does great with spinning, therefore it’s not a ride I can do very often. That is not the ride’s fault.

Maybe this is nitpicking, but I don’t think SkyScreamer was the right name. It is fine, but the park has a ride called Supergirl Sky Flyer. I am not advocating for Six Flags to name more rides off of DC characters, yet if a ride in this park should be called Supergirl Sky Flyer, it is this one.

Final thoughts

SkyScreamer does dominate the skyline for Six Flags, St. Louis. I think it is a great addition to the park. If you like high-flying thrills with an emphasis on spinning then this one is a no-brainer. On a scale of one to ten, I give SkyScreamer an eight.

Pros: More exciting than it looks, great addition to skyline,

Cons: Supergirl a better name,
