Love At First Fright at Six Flags St. Louis is the park’s biggest show for Fright Fest. Shows are daily inside the large Palace Theatre. Even though this is during Fright Fest it is a very family-friendly show. It tells the story of two lovers strolling through the graveyard to take a selfie and end up being kidnapped by bumbling monsters. Singing, dancing, and laughs are the result.

Frankenstein makes his debut.

Love At First Fright Experience

During Fright Fest there is a new showing of Love At First Fright about every two hours. The Palace Theatre is huge so there is usually seating for any show even at the busiest times. However, this is a very popular show each year. So those that want a good seat would be wise to show up at least 15 minutes before showtime. When the show starts the lights will dim and income our main characters of Jack and Katie. The fun will last about 40 minutes. After they take their bows you are able to exit the theatre. If time allows the actors will go to the exits and take pictures with the guest.

Love At First Fright: The Good

The show wisely doesn’t take itself seriously at all. Whatever is good for a joke, is good for the show. It makes for a show that is entertaining for all the reasons they are striving for. This is very much a Halloween show meant for families. Nothing too risque or crude. In addition, nothing mean spirited. The whole thing is just wholesome and funny.

All of the technical aspects of the show are top-notch. The sets are amazing! The lighting and sound also help enhance the storytelling. This is the headline show for Fright Fest and you can tell a lot of love and care goes into producing it.

Large castle and moon set are shown.

The show wouldn’t be any good if the song choices were bad. They are all well done and the actors don’t hold back. The choices are varied enough but still feel cohesive enough to make the show have a good through-line.

The Bad

This show has been running every year for a while now. They do update a line or two every year but wish they would do more in that department. More humor based on current pop culture references would help make this feel fresher. Not an issue if this is your first time seeing the show.

Final Verdict

Love At First Fright is always a lot of fun for Fright Fest. With great sets, jokes, songs, and dancing to help make a wholesome Halloween show. We wish more updates were made yearly but that doesn’t stop this from being a great time. Everyone in your group should be entertained and charmed. Because of these reasons Love At First Fright gets a nine out of ten.
