Johnny Magic Show at Six Flags St. Louis

Johnny Magic and his wonderful assistants put on a magic show every year at Six Flags St. Louis during Fright Fest. Always at the cozy Empire theatre past Batman: The Ride and before Ninja. You can expect to see some very impressive magic/illusionist tricks. Yet it is the frequent add lib comedy sprinkled throughout that helps make this a show one that we are excited for every year.

Johnny Magic Experience

Once you enter the Empire Theatre you can choose from any row. The way the theatre is built it is hard to find a bad seat. Once the show begins Johnny will do some magic tricks with his assistants. Normally of the saw in half category. Followed by an introduction to who he is and what the show is all about. Throughout the magic tricks will be varied and will have you wondering about how they did that. In addition, he will always does some light humor and crowd work. When it’s over they will go to the lobby and take pictures.

Johnny Magic: The Good

This is our home park and we have seen this show dozens of times. The magic is impressive. Some of the illusions we have been able to figure out. Though some we still don’t have a clue on. The show is a magic show and on that account, this one impresses.

It is the personality and comedy of Johnny Magic that keep us coming back. His off-the-cuff remarks always make us laugh. He is also very good and personable with the kids in the audience. It is these audience interactions that have kept us coming back year after year.

The Bad

The Empire Theatre has great sound but it is rather small. This show is popular enough that seating will be an issue for when the park is packed. Since this is a Fright Fest only show the park is often at capacity. A crowd-pleaser like this show really needs a bigger venue.

Final Verdict

Johnny Magic never fails to impress. His blend of great magic tricks and humor is a homerun. Usually, a magic show isn’t something you would think would have massive rewatch potential. However, it is the personability and humor that always keep this show fresh. He and his talented assistants have been doing this show at the empire theatre since 2017! Because of these reasons Johnny Magic gets a nine out of ten.
