Captain Pete’s Pirate Adventure at Six Flags St. Louis is a themed experience for kids during Fright Fest. It is located in the entrance section to Hurricane Harbor. Captain Pete has been locked into the Brig and it is up to you to learn the pirate way and help free him.
Captain Pete’s Pirate Adventure Experience
This is very much for kids. Even though this is Fright Fest there is not going to be anything scary at all about this experience. It comes at a cost of 10 dollars per child. One adult can accompany each child for free. The whole experience will last around 10 minutes.
The kids are equipped with pirate hats, scarves, an eye patch, and other treasures along the way. First, you will meet Captain Pete and he will inform you of why he is now in the Brig. He will task you with a mission to free him. With a newly acquired sword, you will walk along the path talking with all kinds of scallywags. This will lead up to a grand finale of a sword fight. We won’t spoil whether or not Captain Pete gets set free.
Captain Pete’s Pirate Adventure: The Good
There is very much a video game feel to this adventure. You are tasked with a mission, each encounter they have will leave them leveled up. All leading to a final boss match which will test all that they have learned along the way. As long as the kid buys into the experience they will have a blast. All the actors when we went were having a blast playing off their scripts and the kid’s energy.
The kids are given pirate gear and they even get to keep it. So even after the fun is over they get to keep living the pirate experience. Offering a story-themed experience for kids is a great concept for theme parks. We really hope there is more of this kind of thing in the future.
The Bad
The narrow age for this will exclude a lot of people. More than likely kids below Kindergarten won’t be old enough to get anything out of it. Then probably if out of elementary, this will be too kiddie for them. So just beware if you are going to pay for this what you are getting.
Our least favorite aspect of this was the cost. It is 10 dollars per child which even with the gear they give it seems a little steep. About half the price would probably be better. It didn’t seem like a lot of people were doing this and we think the steep cost must have something to do with it. We did it once but at that cost, it will be the only time.
Final Verdict
Captain Pete’s Pirate Adventure is a really fun addition to Fright Fest. As long as the kids are in the elementary stage and you are willing to pay 10 dollars per kid. Our kids certainly had a blast with it. With many fun interactions with the actors and just a sense of fun oozing from all the set pieces. This is one we highly recommend as long as it is the right age group you are with. Because of these reasons, Captain Pete’s Pirate Adventure gets an eight out of ten.
