Silver Dollar City Roller Coasters

Silver Dollar City Roller Coasters are an impressive bunch. With a total of seven coasters, there is something here for everyone. But when trying to decide how to prioritize your time while at the park you need to know which ones are a must and which ones are for the credit. For this reason, we will be ranking all seven Silver Dollar City Roller Coasters from least to best.

Silver Dollar City Roller Coasters Obligatory Disclaimer

These are just our opinions. Yours could be different than ours. However, if you feel we got it wrong then light us up in the comments and we can debate it. Silver Dollar City Roller Coasters certainly inspire passion so let us know if you agree or disagree.

Silver Dollar City Roller Coasters begins at number 7. Grand Exposition Coaster

The coaster parked in the station. Shows the nice setting and the trains look great.

Grand Exposition Coaster is for the kids. So as an adult it shouldn’t surprise anyone that it is our least favorite of the Silver Dollar City Roller Coasters. I don’t consider it bad but there is just not much to it. This coaster is exactly what it is trying to be.

Silver Dollar City Roller Coasters next is 6. Fire In The Hole

Fire In the Hole building station.

I am never sure how much to say about Fire in the Hole. The park built this in-house for their first roller coaster. It is actually more of a dark ride than anything. But it does have some elements that make it count. Fire in the Hole is a truly bizarre ride. Love it or hate it you cannot say it isn’t unique.

5. Wildfire

An Immelmann and an adorable little girls watching her dad on Wildfire at Silver Dollar City.

The fact that a Roller Coaster as good as Wildfire comes in at fifth is a true testament to the quality collection this park has put together. We think that Wildfire is great fun but the inversions are just not that forceful. What it does have going for it is one of the most breathtaking views on any coaster ever. Those Branson Missouri hills seem to go on forever! When riding we recommend the back on this one. It will make that first drop much more fun and gives good airtime.

4. Thunderation

Thunderation was the park’s second Roller Coaster. This time they went with an Arrow Dynamics Mine Train. While Grand Exposition would be considered the kid coaster, Thunderation is the family coaster. Though don’t be fooled by it being for families since Thunderation can pack a punch. This is one of the more forceful Mine Trains we have ever ridden. The Double Helix into the tunnel is our favorite element.

3. Powder Keg

Powder Keg at Silver Dollar City at the launch.

Powder Keg flies a little under the radar. On my first trip to Silver Dollar City, I was so concentrated on number 2 and 1 that I really didn’t know much about it. That was a mistake because Powder Keg is an outstanding Roller Coaster. Powder Keg has a compressed air launch that goes from 0 – 53 in only 2.8 seconds! It isn’t one of the fastest but the rate at which you get there is incredible. Silver Dollar City did a good job when they salvaged Buzzsaw Falls and built this outstanding coaster.

2. Time Traveler

Time Traveler at Silver Dollar City just about to go down its first lift hill.

Time Traveler took a coaster model that I care very little about and made a masterpiece. Spinning isn’t exactly something I love in theme park rides yet here it is no issue. The trains have a computer that prevents them from spinning uncontrollably. This means that the spinning makes every element feel different on every ride while not making me lose my lunch. That first drop out of the station is one of the greatest moments on any coaster ever built. Then with the launches and theming, this is just the complete package.

1. Outlaw Run

Outlaw Run going up the lift hill.

Outlaw Run is the park’s Other Masterpiece. The genius Alan Schilke designed this so you know that it would be special. Every element on this wooden coaster is amazing. The first drop gives strong Ejector Airtime but it is probably best known for its inversions. It wasn’t the first to flip riders upside down on a wooden coaster but most agree it was the first to do it right. The Double Barrel Run is our pick for the best finale on any coaster. Outlaw Run sits completely out in the woods so night rides are a must. Also since it sits so far in the back in the park the line is rarely that long. For these reasons are why we think that Outlaw Run is the best of the best of the Silver Dollar City Roller Coasters.

Final Break-Run

Couple of notes to give on this list that might help you. I believe that putting Thunderation higher than Wildfire might raise some eyebrows. We have a soft spot for Mine Trains and give a little extra for good coasters that families can ride together. Also on what is one or two. Almost everyone we talk with agrees that one of them is the best in the park. Though which is one or two seems to be about 50/50. If you love spinning then Time Traveler might be your one. Lastly is that if you are looking for full reviews on each coaster then you can click on their names above. This list was more a ranking and overview instead of full reviews for each.
