Grand Exposition Coaster at Silver Dollar City

Grand Exposition Coaster has been in operation at Silver Dollar City since 2006. Designed and manufactured by Zamperla. This is their Family Gravity Coaster line. Silver Dollar City is known for its great roller coasters but Grand Exposition is a kid roller coaster. Because of that, it needs to be judged through that fact. It is a fun experience for the young ones but is pretty uncomfortable for adults.

Grand Exposition Coaster Ride Experience

The trains are dispatched from the station into a very small chain lift hill. You bank to the right and into a little dip. This leads to the helix and one more little hill before making a right turn back into the station. Regularly they will send the coaster a total of 3 times per ride cycle.

Grand Exposition Coaster The Good

It is always fun to be with a child when they are on their first roller coaster. There are probably not going to be a lot of kids that want to ride this after having fun on the park’s family roller coasters like Thunderation. But for those who have yet to graduate to the bigger ones, this will be a lot of fun. The fact that adults can experience it with them makes it all the better.

The coaster parked in the station. Shows the nice setting and the trains look great.

I also enjoy the theming on this coaster. Lots of trees and bushes help make it aesthetically pleasing. The track, the area surrounding, and the trains look great. Making one cohesive theme that makes it more fun.

Grand Exposition Coaster The Bad

No grown adult will describe this as a comfortable experience. They built the train to accommodate adults but they didn’t build it with adults in mind. To ride this with your kid is to sacrifice. However, you won’t get beat up or anything like that. I will just say I was relieved when the coaster was over and I was able to stand up again. Though I don’t think what adults think matters very much for a coaster like this.

The worst thing about this one can be the very long line. The operations move slowly. I would advise trying to make your way to this one early. This line will get to be one of the longest waits in the park around lunchtime.

Final Verdict

Grand Exposition Coaster was a smart addition to Silver Dollar City. While the adults might just be riding it for the kids. Or you are an enthusiast like myself who just wants the credit. Having a coaster for young kids is always a smart move for the park. That way they can work their way up to the big ones. As for a score the coaster is what it is. I find a score a hard way to judge what this coaster is. So I am going neutral in my score. On a scale of one to ten I give Grand Exposition Coaster a 5.

Pros: Good for young kids, Its a credit

Cons: not very comfortable for adults, and a very long line most days
