Mad Hatter at Kentucky Kingdom

Mad Hatter at Kentucky Kingdom

Mad Hatter at Kentucky Kingdom has been in operation since 2014. Designed and manufactured by Zamperla from their Tea Cups line. Get your group and climb into these nice porcelain teacups then get ready to spin! While this is designed for the kid park it can be enjoyed by anyone.

Mad Hatter at Kentucky Kindom Experience

Mad Hatter is located inside the kiddie section called King Louie’s Playland. This is located right after you pass up Tin Lizzies and Rock-A-Bye Swing. Riders must be at least 36 inches in order to ride. Adults that want to share the experience can also ride with. You will be kept safe by a locked gate on your teacup. Once the ride attendant has checked all restraints the spinning can begin.

The ride will begin to spin around at a nice pace. Then you are in the driver’s seat at how fast you want your individual teacup to spin. If you want a relaxing ride just sit back. If you want to try and see if you can make your friend lose their Cinnamon Bread they just ate, then grab the wheel in the middle. When that wheel is rotated you are able to make your teacup spin as fast as you want. The ride will last a little over a minute. When it has come to a complete stop a ride attendant will unlock your door and you are able to exit safely.

Mad Hatter at Kentucky Kingdom: The Good

The look of the cups is really elegant. They have a fine glossy look that really catches the eye. Then Kentucky Kingdom did a great job of making the surrounding area as pretty as can be. Good-looking rides and the area they sit on can really enhance the experience. With Mad Hatter, you have a fun ride that looks fantastic.

Our favorite thing about this ride is baked into the Tea Cup ride experience. You get to control how crazy of a ride you want. You can make this one spin out of control if you like that kind of thing. We saw a Dad riding with his three kids. He was making it go so fast! His kids were cheering and screaming. That is a family who is making memories together! But again, you control how much you want it to spin. Imagine if it was Grandma instead riding with those three kids. Now they can sit back and have a pleasant ride together.

Adults without any kids in the group can get in on the fun as well. Adults are more than welcome to take these out for a spin as well. We like that the park has made this ride so variable, so as many as possible can enjoy it.

The Bad

This is the discount version of the Tea Cups. This is only sort of a knock against this ride. What we mean is if you have ever ridden the big models they have so much more room to spin around. More cups with more fun interactions. This being small doesn’t make this a bad ride. It just means that if you have ridden one of the bigger models like Royal Tea Party at Silver Dollar City then this one feels lackluster.

There is a big smiling tea cup at the center of the ride.

Final Verdict

Mad Hatter at Kentucky Kingdom is a good addition to the park. This sort of kid ride offers so much variability in experiences that just about anyone can ride this and have a great time! The cups and the surrounding area look really nice which helps to enhance the likability. The only downside is that Kentucky Kingdom ordered the discount model which doesn’t pack as much fun as the bigger models. Still a great time for everyone. Because of these reasons, Mad Hatter gets a seven out of ten.
