Rock-A-Bye Swing at Kentucky Kingdom

Rock-A-Bye Swing at Kentucky Kingdom

Rock-A-Bye Swing at Kentucky Kingdom has been in operation since 2014. Designed and manufactured by Zamperla from their mini swing line. This is a really great ride that keeps the line moving with great capacity and is just a really fun ride experience. Kids will want to ride it and the adults with them will want to take pictures while they ride it.

Rock-A-Bye Swing at Kentucky Kingdom Experience

Rock-A-Bye Swing is one of the attractions in King Louie’s Playland. Right in between Whirl-A-Round Swings and Mad Hatter. Because 12 kids can ride each cycle the line moves pretty quickly. So there is no need to prioritize this ride over another. Riders must be at least 36 inches tall to ride alone. However, anyone between 31 and 36 inches can ride as long as they are accompanied by an adult rider. A lap bar that has an attached seatbelt will keep all riders safe. Once the ride attendant has checked all restraints, the swinging can begin!

Rock-A-Bye Swing has a purple structure with the seats themselves being blue.

The ride is pretty simple as it is just a swing. It gains momentum as it goes and offers a pretty good amount of force for a kid’s ride. The ride will last around one minute. Once it has come to a complete stop the ride attendant will release the restraints. Everyone can then exit the ride safely.

Rock-A-Bye Swing at Kentucky Kingdom: The Good

These offer a rather intense experience but not so intense as to scare away its target audience. The right balance was found for this ride. The intensity comes from how compact the swing is on this. The bigger the chain on a swing the less intense it will be. Because the forces are more evenly distributed. Since this gets a good swing in such a compact way it will feel more intense than you would think from off ride.

Rock-A-Bye Swings has two sides. Each side has six seats.

Something to cheer about this is how fast they are able to move that line. Each ride cycle can take a total of 12 riders. It is pretty easy to get everyone in their seat and checked as well. This means that kids will rarely be waiting for any length of time to get on this ride.

Adults can get in on the experience as well. We will always give some extra points when parks allow us in on the fun. But we find that this is the best ride in the kiddie section for getting tons of great photos of the kids having fun. So either way, the adults will enjoy this.

The Bad

There is little to complain about here. The name makes reference to music so it does somewhat fit into the theme of King Louie’s Playland but it’s a cheat. Nothing else about the ride has anything at all to do with the theme. While we think that theming will always make a ride better, its lack won’t tank a good ride. That is the case here. This is just a fun ride, and the kids won’t care about its lack of theming anyway.

The ride doesn't get quite sideways but close enough to give a good scare.

Final Verdict

Rock-A-Bye Swing at Kentucky Kingdom is a great addition to the park. The kids will flat out love this because it packs a ton of fun. Adults will also love it if they are willing to ride it, but even if they don’t the photo opportunities will make them love this. Only nitpicky-theme-park-nerd stuff can be found for reasons to complain about this swing ride. All in all, an excellent ride that will be fun for all ages, but especially for its target audience. Because of these reasons Rock-A-Bye Swing gets a nine out of ten.

Rock-A-Bye Swing after the ride is almost done waiting for the restraints to unlock.
