Royal Tea Party has been in operation at Silver Dollar City since 2006. This ride is located in the Grand Exposition section of the park. Designed and manufactured by Zamperla from their Tea Cups line. This ride type is a classic for a great reason. Fun for all ages!
Royal Tea Party Rider Experience
Up to four riders can enter each Tea Cup. Once inside they will close a gate on the cup to make sure you are safe. Once the ride begins the teacups will start rotating around the enclosure. Which is a very mild experience if that is all that you want. Those looking to add some thrill to their tea break can spin the wheel that is in each cup. By rotating the wheel in the middle you can make your individual cup spin as well. Depending on how fast you spin will determine how fast the cup will spin. If you are strong and a glutton for punishment you can make this spin very fast. Once the ride begins to slow down just sit back for a minute. Once it completely stops you are able to safely exit the ride.
Royal Tea Party: The Good
The first thing to mention is the design on these. Probably the best-designed Tea Cup ride we have seen outside of a Disney Park. Still, each teacup is great-looking. So is the building, the floor, and the Tea Pot at the center. We could almost imagine seeing a Rabbit worried about time walking past.
The ride itself is fantastic. This is true of just about any teacup ride. While we cannot say that this one at Silver Dollar City has anything to add to this ride type, we can say it just does it all top-notch. For those that don’t love spinning so much, it is nice to have a ride like this that we are in control of how crazy it is.
The Bad
While we don’t think that Royal Tea Party will be one of the rides that you will write home about, it is hard to come up with any downsides to the ride. Nope, we have nothing. A great ride that is well designed and executed flawlessly.
Final Verdict
Royal Tea Party was an excellent addition to Silver Dollar City. It is fun to look at and just as much fun to ride. While it isn’t a standout ride in the park like Time Traveler or Mystic River Falls, it is still a great ride that you and the whole family will enjoy. Anyone in your group over 36 inches can ride, so this is perfect for families wanting to get out of the sun and get some spinning in. Because of this Royal Tea Party on a scale of one to ten gets a nine.
