Racing Regatta at Silver Dollar City

Racing Regatta has been in operation at Silver Dollar City since 2006. Manufactured and built by Zamperla from their Regatta line. This ride is located in the Grand Exposition section of the park. It provides a really fun and fast ride experience for the whole family.

Racing Regatta Rider Experience

Up to two riders enter each boat and are secured by one lap bar. Once the ride begins the boats will begin to pick up speed. They will be propelled around in a circle. While that circle has small bunny hills throughout. At its full output, you will get tiny pops of airtime with a great sense of speed. Once the ride comes to a stop you are able to lift the lap bar and exit the ride.

Racing Regatta has little boats for vehicles.

Racing Regatta: The Good

The feeling of speed it tremendous on this ride. The only other flat ride type that comes to mind that feels like it is going this fast is your Scrambler-type ride. That isn’t to say this feels like a roller coaster because it doesn’t. Flat Rides just normally aren’t this exciting.

Also, the bunny hills that are throughout the track give a fun pop of airtime. You won’t feel like you are going to get thrown from your seat but it does make this a little more exciting than most flat rides.

The Bad

What makes an incredible flat ride is when there is enough difference in motions so that it doesn’t feel like the same thing over and over again. The park’s Magnificent Wave Carousel is a good example of a flat ride that doesn’t get old. We cannot say the same about Racing Regatta. While we like the forces and motion that this ride goes through it just isn’t varied enough to not become repetitive by the time the ride starts slowing down.

Final Verdict

Racing Regatta was a nice addition to Silver Dollar City. It is a little repetitive which makes me happy when the ride is over. Yet this is fun enough that we ride it every time we are at the park. Our kids really enjoy it as well. So that makes this a fun ride just nothing that will blow you away. Because of these reasons, Racing Regatta on a scale of one to ten gets a six and a half.
