Magnificent Wave Carousel has been in operation at Silver Dollar City since 2006. This impressive ride is the first you will see when entering the Grand Exposition section of the park. It was designed and manufactured by Zamperla from their Flying Carousel model. Great fun for all ages, as long as you can handle a pretty good spin.
Magnificent Wave Carousel Rider Experience
When choosing a seat you have two options. You can either choose a single rider seat on the outside or a double rider seat on the inside. Once in your seat, you have to lock a belt over yourself and if needed your passenger. Once the ride begins it lifts up and begins to spin. This already feels great, but then the ride beings to tilt as you can see in the photo below.
One the ride begins to slow down, the seats will lower. You then can unbuckle and safely leave the ride.
Magnificent Wave Carousel: The Good
It is a reoccurring theme with about every ride at Silver Dollar City that the ride looks amazing. The Magnificent Wave Carousel is no exception. How it gives off that old-time feel to match its themed area, yet makes it also look modern and brand new is very impressive. Also, the land that this ride sits on is gorgeous.
The tilting element is what won me over. Rides like this need something like that to make it more than just spinning around. The tilt gives a variance in the forces one feels while spinning. Flat Rides in general become stale because they just do one thing over and over again. The Magnificent Wave Carousel helps combat this with the tilt, mixing it up throughout the ride.
Last is the genius idea to offer a single rider seat and double. Great thinking and it does help with capacity having that option of the single rider seat.
The Bad
The ride has exceptional capacity due to the number of seats. But it takes forever to get everyone checked before it begins. Very minor issue because on the whole, this is an exceptional flat ride.
Final Verdict
Magnificent Wave Carousel was a great addition to the park. It helps offset issues often seen with flat rides with the tilting while spinning. With an amazing look to it, there is a lot to love about this ride. The only issue we had is very minor. Because of this Magnificent Wave Carousel on a scale of one to ten, gets a nine.
