Electro Spin has been operating at Silver Dollar City since 2006. Designed, and manufactured by Zamperla from their Mega Disk’O” line.
Electro Spin Overview
Riders sit in one of thirty-nine bicycle seat chairs that look outwards into the park on one side. Then on the other is the beautiful forest. The disc spins, and at the same time, the disc moves up, and down a giant half pipe.
When looking at it from the queue line, it doesn’t look like it’s fast or is going to be that intense. Once it started spinning and going up, and down the halfpipe, I was very impressed by how much force this gives off. One element on its own wouldn’t make an exciting ride. The spinning I could take it or leave it. Going up and down the halfpipe, I could also take or leave. Yet when combined it makes for a great ride.
Take Electro Spin for a Spin
The fact that thirty-nine people can ride this together means that unless you’re at a large family reunion, everybody in your group is going to be able to ride at one time. If anybody is too chicken and doesn’t want to ride, then they can stand out, and watch you since you’ll be facing outward, and you can laugh at them. It just has great execution. Any ride that is fun for those experiencing, but also fun for those watching gets extra points from me. Also, Electro Spin doesn’t take up much of a footprint at Silver Dollar City.
Final Verdict
I am not a huge fan of spinning. I am always surprised when I find a spinning ride that I enjoy. The park has some good rides that spin like Time Traveler. That makes this just another great addition to the park. With good views to watch loved ones and scenic views, this is highly recommended. On a scale of one to ten, we give Electro Spin an eight and a half.
Pros: surprisingly forceful, great viewing area for those not riding, Great forest view
Cons: Can take a while before ride begins
