Le TaxiTour at Worlds of Fun has been operating at the park since it opened in 1973. Arrow Dynamics manufactured and designed this attraction from their Antique Car Ride model. Up to four can pile into these old-fashioned cars and take a drive down memory lane. Should please all ages who appreciate a slower time and beautiful scenery. We only wish Worlds of Fun had added some theming to complete the ride.
Le TaxiTour at Worlds of Fun Experience
Le TaxiTour at Worlds of Fun sits at the back of the park, next to Flying Dutchman and Autobahn. The line is often slow-moving and long for this one. We recommend that you prioritize this ride early in the day. Taxi Drivers must be at least 48 inches. Their passengers can be of any height as long as they can sit up on their own. You will be kept safe by a safety belt. Once the ride attendants have checked that all are ready, the tour can begin!
Once out of the station, you will take a scenic tour of the french countryside. As is expected, there are no sharp turns or areas where the cars will accelerate to anything approaching high speed. Le TaxiTour is very much a family ride. Your tour will last around two and a half minutes. Once your drive leads you back to the station, an attendant will take control of the vehicle. Wait to get the all-clear from the ride attendant. You can now exit the ride safely.
Le TaxiTour at Worlds of Fun: The Good
Some of these Antique Car Rides can feel a little too modern. This is one kind of ride where the polish detracts from the experience. However, these classics still look, drive, and feel authentic. The sense of nostalgia that this ride gives us makes this one that we always want to take the Tour.
This ride sits on a beautiful plot of land. There are tons of pretty flowers, old trees, and classic theme park charm that heightens the experience of this ride. Just how beautiful everything is, is a common point when talking about Worlds of Fun.
These kinds of rides are a staple of theme parks for a good reason. They offer a chill but fun experience while getting to drive something old-fashioned. It’s a winning formula that all ages will like, WHich is a good thing since all ages can ride. For Le TaxiTour, they will have to wait till at least 48 inches to drive, but at least no one has to sit and wait while everyone else has fun.
The Bad
Two valid complaints prevent this from truly standing out as a must-ride. The first is that it is a little short. Because with just two and a half minutes, it does feel like it is over two quickly. Sidenote that anytime a complaint is we wish there were more; that is a good sign that we are talking about a good ride.
The second complaint is the lack of theming, that is the real drawback. When walking up to the ride, the station looks great. It fits the Europa theme for the section in which Le TaxiTour sits, but once into the Tour, there is nothing else. At least give us the old-fashioned gas station! It would be nice if driving through this course if you saw some old houses or even a fake town to go through.
Final Verdict
Le TaxiTour at Worlds of Fun is a beautiful addition to the park. We hope the Antique Car ride never disappears from theme parks. It is a true benefit to any theme park that still has these classic experiences. For this one, it does most of the basic stuff right but misses top marks with barebones theming and a ride that is over just a little too quickly. But there is no scenario where this would be considered a bad ride. On the contrary, we have a blast on this every single time. Because of these reasons, Le TaxiTour at Worlds of Fun gets an eight out of ten.
