Grand Carrousel at Worlds of Fun has been operating at the park since 2011 and was designed and manufactured by M.C. Illions from his Supreme Carasousel line. It passed from owner to owner but spent most of its operating years at Ohio at Geauga Lake. Riders choose from any of the 64 wood-carved horses or the two chariots and take a trip down memory lane. Carrousels are a staple of the theme park experience, and we couldn’t be happier with this installation. It should please all ages who admire beautiful craftsmanship and a classic ride.
Grand Carrousel at Worlds of Fun Experience
Grand Carrousel at Worlds of Fun sits at the front of the park, next to Fjord Fjarlane and Bamboozler. While this is undoubtedly a popular attraction, the line is rarely an issue. Feel free to ride this anytime, without worrying about a long wait. Riders must be at least 46 inches to ride alone. However, any rider below 46 inches can ride as long as an adult accompanies them. There are no typical restraints on this ride, but riders can grab the pole to help them keep their balance. Once the ride attendants have checked that all are ready, the ride can begin!
Grand Carrousel will start to do all that you have come to expect from a ride like this. Turning slowly while the horses bob up and down. The ride duration lasts around 3 minutes. Once the ride has come to a complete stop, wait to get the all-clear from the attendant. Once that is given, you are free to exit the ride safely.
Grand Carrousel at Worlds of Fun: The Good
This ride looks like it traveled from the early 1900s. We have ridden many of these, and one of the finest examples of this ride we have ever seen. It was an impressive ride when it was created around 100 years ago and still looks just as good. It also sounds as good. Worlds of Fun added no modern pop music to ruin the experience. It still runs with the classical music you would expect from an older ride like this. Kudos to the staff at Worlds of Fun for keeping this ride looking and sounding as good as it did since day one. Seen from every angle, this is just a beautiful ride.
We love rides that have great capacity. It doesn’t get any better than this ride. There shouldn’t be any occasion where you will have to wait to ride this. It is always good to have rides you can have fun on, no matter how busy the park is that day. Also, unless your group is over 70 people, everyone can ride together. Add to that the loose height restrictions and everyone can have a blast on this ride!
The Bad
We try never to leave this section blank. There is always something a park could improve on an experience. The best we came up with is the Chariots could be a little more regal. That is the best we have as far as complaints go. So, if it wasn’t obvious, we are big fans of this one.
Final Verdict
Grand Carrousel at Worlds of Fun is a fantastic addition to the park. It is almost flawless for what you would want from a ride like this. With great capacity and a wonderful setting, this is the complete package! It took us a while to come up with any issues, and it’s barely worth mentioning. We know that a Carrousel isn’t going to get people as excited as a new coaster, but there can be no denying that this ride is fantastic. Because of these reasons, Grand Carrousel at Worlds of Fun gets a ten out of ten.
