Flutterfly at Kentucky Kingdom

Flutterfly at Kentucky Kingdom

Flutterfly at Kentucky Kingdom has been in operation since 2015. Designed and manufactured by Zamperla from their Magic Bike line. Riders will soar into the air on this unique-looking ride. This kiddie ride is perfect for families with young kids.

Flutterfly at Kentucky Kingdom Experience

Flutterfly is located inside the kiddie section called King Louie’s Playland. It is neighbors with Big Foot Trucks and Musical Carousel. The line for this one is just about average and there is no need to prioritize this ride over another. Riders must be at least 48 inches tall to ride this alone. However, anyone between 36 and 48 can ride as long as they are accompanied by an adult rider. A seatbelt that goes across your stomach will keep you safe. Once the ride attendant has checked all restraints then the fun can begin!

Flutterfly at Kentucky Kingdom has two seats with peddles and even a bar extension to hold onto.

When the ride begins the cars will begin to spin around the structure. On each seat are some bicycle pedals that when peddled will make the seats rise into the air. The ride duration is a little more than a minute. Once the ride begins to slow down, then the seats will also come back to the ground. When all seats have fully descended and the ride has stopped moving, then you can unbuckle and exit the ride safely.

Flutterfly at Kentucky Kingdom: The Good

This ride looks like something out of a fantasy movie. The explosion of color and parts is just eye-catching. It looks like whoever built this just cobbled whatever parts they could and threw it together. We know the geniuses at Zamperla didn’t actually do this, but the vibe you get from this ride is just awesome.

Yes, the ride looks awesome but that would mean little if it wasn’t fun. We are happy to report that in fact, this ride is a ton of fun. Built from the ground up to be an experience that kids have with their parents. After all, they don’t actually need you to peddle to get this thing to rise off the ground. They do that so that parent and child work together to have this great experience. Also worth mentioning that for a kid ride this does get pretty high up there.

The Bad

As is the case with a lot of rides at Kentucky Kingdom the height restriction here is overboard. We want kids and adults to experience this together, but not all adults want to ride this. Meaning that a 48-inch height restriction will make it so that a lot of kids won’t be able to ride this. It is silly that this ride and Lightning Run both have the same minimum height restriction to ride alone.

The seats even have a fan on the back of them.

Final Verdict

Flutterfly at Kentucky Kingdom is a great addition to the park. In the looks department alone this ride is off the charts. But it also is a ton of fun to ride together. We think the height restriction is just silly but that is about it for complaints. Because of these reasons Flutterfly gets an eight and a half out of ten.
