Big Foot Trucks at Kentucky Kingdom

Big Foot Trucks at Kentucky Kingdom

Big Foot Trucks at Kentucky Kingdom have been in operation since 1990. Designed and manufactured by Zamperla from their Convoy line. Kids are able to take the wheel of these mini Big Foot Trucks and take a drive. This is one of the better rides at King Louie’s Playland.

Big Foot Trucks at Kentucky Kingdom Experience

Big Foot Trucks is one of the first rides you will find when entering King Louie’s Playland. It sits sandwiched between Rio Grande Train and Pounce & Bounce. The line for this one can sometimes be trouble. If they are not running many trucks then expect to wait. You must be at least 36 inches in order to ride. Also, adults are able to ride as well. A seatbelt will keep all riders safe. Once the ride attendant has checked all the restraints, the fun can begin.

These monster trucks are battery-powered and controlled by the ride attendant. They run along a rail, so the kids will have the illusion of driving but in fact, the speed and where they are going is already locked in. Once these start moving it will take you a pretty good distance from the starting point. The ride duration is about a minute and fifteen seconds. We have seen that on less busy days they will allow a second lap around. Though that might be different on some operating days. When the ride comes to a complete stop you can unbuckle and exit the ride safely.

Big Foot Trucks at Kentucky Kingdom: The Good

The most impressive thing about this ride is how much land this sits on. Almost every installation of this ride type we have seen is super compact. The fact that the kids get to drive pretty far away is really nice. It is a pretty piece of land that this ride sits on. This is one of the better versions of this ride based solely on the land it sits on.

Big Foot Trucks at Kentucky Kingdom is actually comfortable for adults to ride. Kids sit in the front with the steering wheel, but adults sit in the back on an elevated seat. It means that you will have leg room! Kiddie rides usually have seating for adults as an afterthought. However, on this ride, it is a pleasure to sit up top! Additionally, we always give extra points to a kid ride that parents can tag along with.

For a kid’s ride that has been going since 1990, this all works and looks great. The trucks have been updated since that time. They look nice and are a benefit to this ride. Simply put this is a kiddie ride done right.

The Bad

Kentucky Kingdom has set this ride up for success. Almost every element of this experience has been refined to entertain. We only have two sorts of issues with it. The first is that this ride is themed to Big Foot Trucks. This just sits on a pretty piece of land and has nothing that looks like a track that actual Big Foot Trucks would drive on. Making some props along the way or making it a dirt track would help with this.

Secondly is how many trucks do they have running on a day. Most days we have been it’s just two or three. Which makes this one a pain to wait for. All these are minor and the type of stuff that its target audience won’t care about.

Final Verdict

Big Foot Trucks at Kentucky Kingdom is a great addition to King Louie’s Playland. Maybe the best installation of this ride type we have ever seen. Fun for kids and also the adults with them. Issues are more of the theme-park-nerd-nitpicky variety. The park really did a great job on this kid ride. Because of these reasons, Big Foot Trucks at Kentucky Kingdom gets a nine out of ten.
