Doggone Trail at Holiday World

Doggone Trail at Holiday World

Doggone Trail at Holiday World has been in operation since 1999. This serves as the park’s kiddie jeep ride. Located in Holidog’s FunTown and should please the young ones wanting to drive the adults around.

Doggone Trail Rider Experience

Kids will have to be 42 inches to ride alone, but as long as there is an adult supervisor anyone can ride. They will be kept safe by a belt that is in each row. Each row can seat two people. Once the ride attendant has checked the restraints the driving can begin! There are 6 Jeeps with up to 4 riders per jeep. They are all chained together. So once the ride begins, all are going. The Jeeps move along a rail so no lazy driving or bumping. The lap only lasts about 30 seconds till you are back at the station. Each time you ride, you are giving the option to take a second lap around. When the ride has come to a complete stop it is safe for them to exit.

Doggone Trail has a basic station. The line does extend out a good bit.

Doggone Trail: The Good

We will always appreciate it when any kid ride allows adults to get in on the fun. It is a great time seeing the parents honking the horn while their kid is steering the jeep. While the experience is strictly for the kids, this ride could also be taken as a family ride. Since a group of four can ride together.

Everything is very well maintained. The jeeps look good, but the land surrounding them is the real treat. The tree’s that the course interacts with really help give this ride some much-needed charm.

The Bad

Holiday World already has a driving ride that all ages can ride with Lewis & Clark Trail. This is just a lesser version of that in every way. Now to be fair no matter what age or height a kid can sit in the driver’s seat for this one. But of course, that is an illusion since really the steering wheel does nothing.

The course is just too short. If a driving ride never gets far enough away from the station to not be seen by those waiting to board, then it is too short. They do try to make up for it by letting you do it twice each ride. It helps but still, this ride just feels a little pointless. However, this is a kid ride. The younger members of your group will likely not be bothered by any of this.

The Jeeps come in Yellow and Blue.

Final Verdict

Doggone Trail is a decent addition to Holiday World. The land it sits on is great looking, we just wish there was more to it. Parents can ride but would prefer to go ride the superior and longer version of this ride. It’s just a mixed bag, but again its target audience will likely not care. So we think it isn’t great, but kids should have some fun when they aren’t marathoning the kiddie coaster right next to it, Howler. Because of these reasons Doggone Trail gets a five out of ten.
