Lewis and Clark Trail

Lewis & Clark Trail at Holiday World

Lewis & Clark Trail at Holiday World has been in operation since 1978. This serves as the park’s antique car ride. Take these Tin Lizzie style cars out for a spin. Great for either a drive for the first time or a trip down memory lane.

Lewis & Clark Trail Rider Experience

Riders will walk under the nice-looking entrance sign and enter some switchbacks that serve as the queue line. Once the ride op says you are good to enter, you can sit up to four people per car. Two in front and two in back. Also, the driver needs to be at least 42 inches. Once you are given the safety speech you are able to put your foot on the gas and start having fun. Your drive will take you around a nice-looking track for about 3 minutes. When you get back to the station a ride op will take control of your car. You are now able to exit the ride safely.

Lewis & Clark Trail: The Good

Regardless of these cars being antiques, they are in great shape. This is something common with Holiday World. They have some of the best ride maintenance in the theme park business. Each car has a nice-looking paint job and the course they drive on is also impeccably kept.

Having a ride like this where young kids can get their first experience of driving is a blast. They will feel all grown-up for driving everyone around. Their parents will feel safe knowing that these cars sit on a rail.

Lewis & Clark Trail has a fleet of vehicles that look very sharp.

The Bad

We have two complaints about this ride. First is the amount of pressure that is needed on the gas to keep this going. It became unpleasant as we drove to continue pressing the peddle. This aspect really stuck out since this was very unusual for a ride like this. It didn’t kill the ride for us and we still love riding this while in the park.

The second is the theming. Lewis & Clark were famous explorers who explored the United States by boat. What any of that has to do with Antique cars is beyond us. Admittedly, this is very nit-picky, but we think theming matters.

Final Verdict

Lewis & Clark Trail is a fun addition to Holiday World. It is always fun to see young kids driving grown-ups around. Also, the cars and track are also so well maintained. The pressure on the peddle is a major issue, and the theming is the kind of thing only enthusiasts would ever care about. Because of these reasons, Lewis & Clark Trail gets a seven out of ten.
