Crow's Nest at Holiday World

Crow’s Nest at Holiday World

Crow’s Nest at Holiday World has been in operation since 2011. Designed and manufactured duties were handled by Zamperla. This ride is good for anyone that likes a little height with their spin. But most will find it a little lackluster.

Crow’s Nest Rider Experience

You will need to be at least 42 inches to ride with an adult companion, but 48 inches to ride alone. Each of the ten seats is doubled up. Making it possible for 20 riders each cycle. You are kept safe by one lap bar for each seat pair. Then one seat belt is connected to the lap bar. Once the ride op has confirmed everyone is safe the spinning can begin. As the ride begins to spin it raises up 65 feet into the air. After about a minute and a half, the ride will slow down and lower back to the ground. When it is fully stopped, you are able to remove your restraints and exit the ride.

Crow’s Nest: The Good

The double seating is one of our favorite things about this ride. It is always good to be able to sit with a loved one while spinning in the air. Also, it is really cool if you are on this ride and get to see Thunderbird launch.

The thing is this isn’t a bad ride. It is the second swing in the park. So if we seem a little heavier on the dislike for this it is because of that. This is a fun ride if just a little unnecessary for this park.

The Bad

The park already has a thrilling swing ride in HallowSwings. Which is vastly superior to this ride. The only thing that Crow’s Nest does that HallowSwings doesn’t, is the height. However, 65 feet isn’t exactly a very tall ride. This ride just feels very unnecessary.

Holiday World is a major park that regularly has major investments. However, this one feels like a budget ride. Something you would see at a local amusement park that isn’t very popular. This ride is trying to be like the SkyScreamers ride at Six Flags parks. Yet it is not fast and doesn’t reach dizzying heights.

Final Verdict

Crow’s Nest is a very confusing addition to Holiday World. Again to beat the same drum, we don’t consider this a bad ride. If you like swings then you will have fun here. If it was taller or had more speed this would be easier to recommend. Also, this might just be our luck but out of the times we have been to the park this ride is rarely running. Because of these reasons, Crow’s Nest gets a three out of ten.
