Prancer’s Merry-Go-Round at Holiday World has been in operation since the 70s. This is a child-only carousel. It is located in Rudolph’s Reindeer Ranch and should please any young ones. But, does this offer anything that Star Spangled Carousel doesn’t?
Prancer’s Merry-Go-Round Rider Experience
Riders need to be less than 54 inches in order to ride. They will be kept safe by a belt that goes around them that is attached to the horse. This is single seating only, so no doubling up. Once the ride attendant has checked each child’s restraint the fun can begin! There are 20 horses in total that will spin around the structure. In classic Carousel fashion, the horses will bob up and down when the ride is in motion. The fun lasts around 45 seconds, then will begin to slow. When the ride has come to a complete stop it is safe for them to exit.
Prancer’s Merry-Go-Round: The Good
One of the worst things about the kiddie rides is usually how long the lines are. This ride being able to accommodate 20 riders each cycle is a real blessing.
While it may not be the most beautiful ride in the park there is something charming about this. Straight out of an old carnival. Again we have to mention how good of a shape this ride is in for its age. This is from the 70s but has very little visible wear and tear. The maintenance crew at Holiday World has taken great care of this.
The Bad
The park already has one of these. It is bigger and better in just about every way. Star Spangled Carousel is already a ride that kids can ride. Adults can ride with them!
Kids will still have fun on this but we find this ride to be unnecessary. This should be sold off and have a different kind of kids ride be put in its place.
Final Verdict
Prancer’s Merry-Go-Round was a great addition to Holiday World. Now it is just not needed. While we think that this should be sold and have something else put in its place, the young ones in your group will still have fun. It is not a bad ride, just an inferior ride to its big brother Star Spangled Carousel. Because of these reasons, Prancer’s Merry-Go-Round gets a three out of ten.
