Wings of Wonder has been in operation at Silver Dollar City since 2006. Designed and manufactured by Zamperla from their Jumpin Around model. This fun kid’s ride is located in the Grand Exposition section of the park. It is simple but it is fun for kids and comfortable for adults as well.
Wings of Wonder Rider Experience
Two riders can sit in one of the six themed butterflies. Each butterfly can accommodate two riders. Younger rider goes in the front. Riders are kept safe by a seat belt and a lap bar. Once the ride begins the butterflies will begin to spin around the structure. Then each one can lift up higher and come down again to offer some different sense of motion. This lasts for just around one minute. Then the butterflies will all come safely back down to the ground. Once the ride is fully stopped, all riders will be able to exit the ride.
Wings of Wonder: The Good
The Theming on this ride is excellent! From the butterflies themselves to the way the ride structure itself is greenery just gives off a really great vibe. Add that to how well this ride fits the surrounding environment and the Grand Exposition section, and you have a perfect fit.
Also, it is just great fun. Kid rides need to be mildly thrilling but not boring. This ride gets that balance well. Kids will enjoy it as well as any adult supervisors with them.
The Bad
There isn’t much bad to say about this ride. However, there is a sense of “haven’t ridden this one before.” The park already has a couple of Jump Around models. With Lucky’s Dizzy Dogs being the best of them. Yet this is probably one of those complaints that means nothing. Most kids aren’t going to care that a similar ride is in the park. My own kids didn’t care and were excited to ride this. The ride itself is fun and kids will have a great time.
Final Verdict
Wings of Wonder was a great addition to Silver Dollar City. While it is a little repetitive for the park. Though most of its target audience will not care and will instead have a great time. With great theming and a beautiful setting being the standouts here. Because of these reasons Wings of Wonder on a scale of one to ten gets an eight.
