Up The Ladder at Silver Dollar City

Up The Ladder has been in operation at Silver Dollar City since 2015. It is located in the Fireman’s Landing section of the park. Designed and manufactured by Zamperla from their Jumpin’ Star model. This is a mini drop tower and will thrill its target audience.

Up The Ladder Rider Experience

Up to six riders can board each ride cycle. Anyone over the height of 36 inches can ride alone. If under 36 inches they need to be accompanied by an adult companion. Once everyone is sat down the ride attendant will lock a lap bar over everyone. Once the ride is in motion it will rise up and then drop. The rise up is slow and the drop is fast. Fast for a kid ride that is. Once it does its cycle three times the ride will come back safely to the ground. All riders can then exit safely.

Up The Ladder: The Good

Up The Ladder has a great theme to go with the ride. Fireman’s landing has many such rides. Silver Dollar did such a great job with this section of the park. This ride also sits on a very pretty-looking plot of land. You can see the tower for Mystic River Falls over the water.

The ride itself looks great and has been well maintained. The paint still looked new when we last visited. Along with being well maintained is that this is a good thrill for its target audience. Young kids love this ride. Our two daughters marathoned this thing around ten times. So while I would prefer to go ride Firefall, there is no denying that kids will love this.

The Bad

This is one of those that adults can ride with their kids. But you will have to be awfully skinny in order to do that. We like eating at Clara Belle’s Cinnamon Bread too much for that. This is a very minor gripe since you can ride if you fit. Also, it is fun standing in front of the ride and interacting with your kids while they ride. Lastly and this may be luck of the draw. But out of the many times I have been to Silver Dollar City, we have noticed this one doesn’t run all the time. Since it is the last ride in its area they seem to give it a lower priority.

Final Verdict

Up The Ladder was a great addition to Silver Dollar City. It sits on a beautiful section of the park and will thrill its target audience. It fits the theme of the area and makes Fireman’s Landing all the better. Because of these reasons, Up The Ladder, on a scale of one to ten gets an eight.
