Firefall at Silver Dollar City

Firefall at Silver Dollar City

Firefall has been in operation at Silver Dollar City since 2015. Designed and manufactured by S&S – Sansei Technologies from their Double Shot model. Firefall is a rather intense ride that builds a lot of anticipation.

Firefall at Silver Dollar City Rider Experience

Up to sixteen riders can ride each cycle. You are secured by two seatbelts. One that goes around your waist and another that connects from the bottom of your seat to the over-the-shoulder restraint. Once the ride begins you are raised a couple of feet off the ground. Wait around 10 seconds then blast off! You will have two hard shots upward. Then the ride will lower slowly back down to the ground.

Firefall at Silver Dollar City The Good

Over-the-shoulder restraints are usually the worst. Here Silver Dollar City uses them as an advantage. You are fit pretty securely into this ride. Yet the restraint doesn’t sit tight on your shoulders. When you are shot upward you will get some good airtime. A really out-of-control feeling that makes this one of the best flat rides in the park.

The fact that this mostly sits inside seemed odd to us before riding it. Normally tower rides are very out in the open. Once we did the ride the reason why was very apparent. Your eyes have to adjust from the wall to the open space during the launch. It makes it feel faster and taller as well. Out of all the Double Shot models, I have ridden this one is my favorite because of that small little touch.

The Bad

The prep before starting the ride can be a little much. Three restraints are a little much. Thrill rides had seatbelts installed for a good reason. That is to keep riders safe. Yet a second seatbelt seems like one too many redundancies. If it helps people feel safer then okay. What it does is that it confuses people. It takes a long time for this ride to get everyone sat and checked before launch.

This particular model from S&S is very short. If they stood taller then they would be even more special. Even when you are at the highest point it doesn’t feel like you are that high up.

Final Verdict

Firefall at Silver Dollar City was a great addition to the park. It is short, but it is a blast while it lasts. Again, good theming enhances a normal theme park ride. On a scale of one to ten Firefall at Silver Dollar City gets a nine.
