The Ladybugs has been in operation at Silver Dollar City since 2006. Designed and manufactured by Zamperla from their Jump Around model. It is located in the Grand Exposition area of the park around other kid rides like Happy Frogs and Wings of Wonder. This is meant for very small children to enjoy.
The Ladybugs Rider Experience
Up to 2 small children can sit in one of six Ladybug cars. Riders are secured by one seatbelt. Once the ride begins the Ladybugs will spin around the tower. The cars do not lift up and no other motions besides just going around happen during this ride. Once the ride is over the cars will stop and the kids can safely exit.
The Ladybugs: The Good
The area that The Ladybugs sits in is gorgeous. Which helps with the Ladybugs theming of this ride. The vase that they go around also looks wonderful.
The Bad
We tend to not be very harsh on kid’s rides. However, The Ladybugs feels useless. After all, it just goes around, and the cars don’t raise or bounce. Silver Dollar City already has a few rides like this that have something more to add to the experience. Judging by how many kids wanted to ride this vs. the kid rides around it is a pretty good indication that even small kids see this as rather uninspiring.
Final Verdict
The Ladybugs seems like a waste of space for Silver Dollar City. However, it does have a nice look and a wonderful setting going for it. The issue is that there are many better options for kids in this park. On a scale of one to ten, this kid’s ride gets a four.
