Lucy’s Tugboat at Worlds of Fun

Lucy’s Tugboat at Worlds of Fun has been operating since 2011, designed and manufactured by Zamperla from their Tugboat model. Riders take to the open seas to be spun around on a half-pipe. While this was designed for kids, its ride experience is one the whole family will enjoy.

Lucy’s Tugboat at Worlds of Fun: Experience

Lucy’s Tugboat at Worlds of Fun sits towards the back of the park in the Planet Snoopy section, next to PEANUTS™ Road Rally and Camp Bus. While this can attract a lot of riders, it is rare to wait in a long line. Riders must be 42 inches to ride alone, but anyone under 42 can ride if an adult accompanies them. You will be kept safe by a lap bar and a locked door to every row. Once the ride attendant has checked all restraints, get ready to spin!

As the cycle begins, the boat will up and down the half-pipe while simultaneously spinning. The ship will then turn directions and spin the other way. The ride duration is about a minute and a half. Once the ride has come to a complete stop, the ride attendant will give the all-clear. Then, you can undo the restraint and exit the ride safely.

Lucy’s Tugboat at Worlds of Fun: The Good

The boat looks lovely. It is brimming with nice little details like the dingies on the side and the half-pipe disguised as the sea. Tons of color that go together make this a ride that gets high marks in the looks department.

Flat Rides can get dull if they do the same thing repeatedly with no variation in motion. Lucy’s Tugboat is constantly shifting the ride experience. Going up and down the half-pipe means it is never on level ground. Then it spins one way and then turns the other. The entire ride keeps changing up, offering different forces.

The ride at the far end of the half pipe turned and about to head back.

Since this kid ride is for families, it has two things that make this one of the best in Planet Snoopy. First is that anyone can ride as long as they are with an adult. We hate when the young ones have to sit out! Then you also have the boat split in two. That means you can have fun interactions with everyone on the other side. We love splitting the groups up so we can laugh from the other side of the boat.

The Bad

Worlds of Fun and Zamperla thought of everything. If there is a drawback, then it has escaped our judgmental eye. If you have one, please let us know in the comments section. We would love it if it were taller, faster, or more intense. But then it wouldn’t be a kid ride. A perfect ride that executes flawlessly on precisely what it sets out to do.

Final Verdict

Lucy’s Tugboat is a knockout of the park! It does everything right visually and in the ride experience. Fun for all ages that never wears out it’s welcome. One of the rare kid rides we get on is not because of the young ones in our group but because we want to ride it! Lucy’s Tugboat might be the best ride of the lineup in Planet Snoopy. Because of these reasons, Lucy’s Tugboat at Worlds of Fun gets a nine out of ten.
