Charlie Brown’s Windup at Worlds of Fun

Charlie Brown’s Windup at Worlds of Fun has been in operation since 2001. Designed and manufactured by Zamperla from their Lolly Swing line. This is a swing ride designed for kids. Great for families with younger thrill seekers.

Charlie Brown’s Windup at Worlds of Fun Experience

Charlie Brown’s Windup at Worlds of Fun is a kiddie ride that sits inside of Planet Snoopy. Located right next to PEANUTS™ Turntyke and Linus’ Beetle Bugs. The line for this one is usually a little lower. Usually, there is no wait longer than one cycle to be able to ride. So there is no need to prioritize this ride over another. Riders must be at least 36 inches and no taller than 54 inches in order to ride. Each seat has a metal bar with an attached belt that will keep all riders safe. Once the ride attendant has checked all restraints the fun can begin!

Charlie Brown's Windup at Worlds of Fun has begun and with full speed not giving much force.

Once the ride begins it is a classic swing ride. Revolving around the structure at a pretty slow pace. The seats are attached by chains which will allow the kids to move about freely with the motion of the ride. All total the ride will spin for about a minute and a half. It will start to lose steam and eventually come to a complete stop. Once the ride attendant has given the all-clear, the children are good to undo the restraint and exit the ride safely.

Charlie Brown’s Windup at Worlds of Fun: The Good

We have always liked the idea of a ride too big and scary in the adult park getting its little brother in the kid park. The kids that are sad because they have to sit instead of riding Steelhawk can have fun on this while waiting to get a little taller.

A real problem with some kid’s rides can be how long it takes to get on them regardless of a little line or not. This ride sits enough kids that it really churns through riders really well. That way the fun can continue!

As seen at every kid ride ever there is kids on the ride and all the parents standing around watching them.
Kids riding and adults watching.

The ride has a great look to it. The colors really pop. The snoopy theme while it may be a stretch here, still makes it a more fun ride than it would be without it.

The Bad

Charlie Brown’s Windup at Worlds of Fun does have some drawbacks that hold it back. The biggest problem we have is how slow this goes. This is the kiddie swing so we wouldn’t expect any strong forces but it does go slow enough that no one on the ride will get excited. Just a couple extra mph we think would make this ride just a little bit more worth it.

With single-row seating and no accommodation for anyone over 54 inches tall, it is quite an exclusionary ride. In a lot of cases, a big brother or sister won’t be able to ride with the young ones. It is always a bummer when parents cannot get in on the fun of a kid’s ride.

The kids don't seem to be very excited about this one.

As much as we like the theming there should be more of it. The ride itself looks nice but it looks like the minimum was done here. How about instead of a green bottom half some fun illustrations of the characters playing baseball? With Charlie of course swinging so hard he falls down! Basically just something extra than the bare minimum that is here now.

Final Verdict

Charlie Brown’s Windup at Worlds of Fun is an okay addition to the park. It should please its target audience. We think a few extra touches could have helped make this ride stand out more, like a little more speed, or some extra theming elements. While it won’t blow anyone away it is still a good addition to Planet Snoopy that makes this one of the best kid’s sections we have ever seen. Because of these reasons, Charlie Brown’s Windup at Worlds of Fun gets a six out of ten.
