Mile High Falls at Kentucky Kingdom

Mile High Falls at Kentucky Kingdom

Mile High Falls at Kentucky Kingdom has been in operation since 1994. Designed and manufactured by Hopkins Rides from their Shoot the Chute line. This is an impressive-looking ride that delivers exactly what it promises. Be anywhere near this ride and you will get soaked.

Mile High Falls at Kentucky Kingdom Experience

Mile High Falls at Kentucky Kingdom is located right past Flying Dutchman and sits to the right of Thunder Run. This ride will get a long line when temperatures are higher. You must be at least 42 inches to ride this alone. However, if you are between 36 and 42 inches then you can ride with an adult. A large lap bar will keep you safe. Once the ride attendants have checked all restraints the soaking can begin!

Mile High Falls at Kentucky Kingdom just about to head downs its massive hill.

Once you leave the station you will go up 82 and a half feet! The boat will do a little turn, followed by the main event. That main event will leave everyone drenched. After that, the boat will slowly make its way back into the station. Once the ride attendants release the restraints you are able to exit the ride safely.

But wait there’s more! The fun continues on the bridge exit. Stand and be brave as the next boat creates a tidal wave that will again soak you!

Mile High Falls at Kentucky Kingdom: The Good

We have ridden many of the Shoot the Chute rides over the years. To our recollection, this is the tallest one we have ever been on! That big drop goes on for a long time. You get a little bit of floater airtime as well. Kudos to Kentucky Kingdom for going big on this one.

With a minimum height of 36 inches, this is a good thrill that the whole family will enjoy. With the comfortable boats and restraints, all will have a good time while getting soaked.

The boat for Mile High Falls has come back into the station and everyone is completely soaked.

And you really will get soaked. There is no avoiding it on this ride. It is refreshing to have a water ride that truly delivers the goods. Heck, you don’t even have to ride to get soaked. Just walk up the exit and stand on the bridge. We always give extra points to a ride that can make the fun continue when exiting the ride.

The Bad

The line on this one can be quite long on hotter days. That will also be affected by if the park is running one or two boats. The line being long on this one can be quite painful since this is one of those rides that really only last a couple of seconds. Waiting 30 minutes for a ride on Lightning Run doesn’t seem to be as annoying since it is a full experience. We always want to ride this, but sometimes we will opt not to just because we don’t want to wait in that line.

The boat is millimeters away from splashing into the water.

Final Verdict

Mile High Falls at Kentucky Kingdom is a great addition to the park. The ride executes exactly what it is trying to do flawlessly. A great drop from the hill that will leave you drenched. Also, extra points because of the wave on the bridge when exiting. The only issue is if you want to wait or not. Because of the reasons, Mile High Falls gets a nine out of ten.

Now at the bottom making a huge splash.
