Bella Musica at Kentucky Kingdom has been in operation since 1996. Possibly designed and manufactured by Wooddesign Amusement-Rides (More on that at the bottom) from their Carousel line. This classic carousel model is sure to please all riders.
Bella Musica Experience
This sits a little over halfway into the park. Sandwiched in between Thunder Run and Roller Skater. Simply line up and wait your turn. Rarely to never will you ever have to wait for more than one cycle to board. Once in, pick whatever animal or carriage catches your eye. Anyone over 36 inches can ride alone. Anyone under 36 inches can ride as long as they are accompanied by an adult. Once the ride attendant has checked that all are following instructions the fun can begin!
Each of the seats will have slightly different experiences. The traditional horses and other animals will do the normal up and down motion. There are even some carriages that will spin independently which will offer a different experience. The ride lasts around 2 minutes and then will begin to slow down. Once the ride has come to a complete stop you are free to exit the ride safely.
Bella Musica: The Good
As is the case with all carousels, these are just perfect for families. Whole groups can ride together with no issues. Also since kids can ride them as well no one is excluded from the fun!
There is a very classically beautiful aesthetic to this Bella Musica. The colors give it that sepia-tone look that really draws the eye. Also, the variety of animals on display is quite extensive. Now some of them might give nightmares about how weird they look but still, there is a lot of them.
The Bad
We have no real complaints about Bella Musica. This is a fine Carousel that works as you would hope.
Final Verdict
Bella Musica is a great addition to the park. It checks all the boxes you would want from a Carousel. It does nothing that will detract from the experience. We would say this is about standard for this type of ride. All should enjoy it, yet most won’t walk away super impressed either. Because of these reasons Bella Musica gets an eight out of ten.
Confusing history of Bella Musica
Just some notes on where this thing came from. The park’s website gives no information. We are sure that it has been operating at the park since 1996. However, we are not sure if it was brand new at that point or if it was a relocation like many Carousels. The park’s website doesn’t say anything either way. Wikipedia lists the manufacturer as Wooddesign Amusement-Rides. From what we can tell they specialize in building transportable fair rides. Though we can see they do manufacture some Carousels and they do share some resemblance.
There are some comments we could find that claim this was from the line of Chance Rides Carousels from the ’70s. But nothing concrete. Then there is this.
When seeing this we thought it was made by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company. But maybe those banners are just to celebrate their history. In the end, we were not able to be “sure” on who made this and when it was first manufactured. If anyone has any insight into this please leave a comment or message us on any social media accounts and we would be happy to update this page.
