Roller Skater at Kentucky Kingdom

Roller Skater at Kentucky Kingdom

Roller Skater at Kentucky Kingdom has been in operation since 1994. Designed by Vekoma from their Roller Skater line of junior roller coasters. It is the tamest roller coaster at Kentucky Kingdom but it’s perfect for the younger thrill-seekers in your group.

Roller Skater at Kentucky Kingdoms trains are shaped like Roller Skates.

Roller Skater Experience

You will need to be at least 56 inches to ride this one alone, but as long as you are 36 inches, and accompanied by an adult, you can ride. The roller coaster only runs one train which seats up to sixteen riders per cycle. You will be kept safe by one lap bar for both riders. Once the ride attendant has checked everyone’s restraint the fun can begin. The trains will head up a tire-powered lift hill of 28 feet. Heading down you will get little hills and some mild helixes. The ride lasts about a minute all total. When the train comes back into the station your lap bar will release and you can exit the ride safely.

Roller Skater: The Good

This roller coaster rides a fine line between family and junior coaster. The park does have another fantastic family coaster with Kentucky Flyer. We love when the park has a sliding scale of coasters. You should start with this one and work your way up to the big ones. As for the tamest coaster in the park, it is still fun.

The plot of land that Roller Skater sits on is very pretty. Mostly forest-like with even a creek running through it. Then because Kentucky Kingdom is strange you have a road right next to it. Coasters are always improved by the land they sit on. We loved how pretty but also unique it made this ride feel.

The trains being themed to roller skates is just fantastic. The perfect way to set the mood for younger kids. They look great on the yellow track with the greenery surrounding it.

The Bad

Roller Skater is not very forceful at all. That is okay though since it wasn’t designed to be that way. But what it doesn’t have in forces it does have in jerkiness. This isn’t a smooth ride, to say the least. It’s not terribly rough like when an adult coaster is rough (looking at you T3) but still, this isn’t a comfortable ride.

Final Verdict

Roller Skater is a great addition to Kentucky Kingdom’s roller coaster lineup. Offering a great entry-level experience for younger thrill-seekers. But it also has enough to it that adults will like it as well. Not the smoothest of rides though it doesn’t ruin this experience. Because of these reasons Roller Skater gets a seven out of ten.
