Kentucky Kingdom Roller Coasters

Kentucky Kingdom Roller Coasters Ranked

Kentucky Kingdom Roller Coasters are a creative bunch. The park is basically in downtown Louisville and is neighbors with an airport. Because of this, they have restrictions on how tall any of their attractions can be. What could have been a real issue for most parks Kentucky Kingdom instead got creative.

Here we will be ranking from worst to best all of the Kentucky Kingdom Roller Coasters. That way you will know which you can skip and which you will need extra time so you can ride it again and again.

Kentucky Kingdom Roller Coasters worst is T3 Roller Coaster.

The coaster about to head into another inversion. Riders look terrified.

T3 Roller Coaster is a mess of a ride. While it looks great, trains have good restraints, and the layout is fantastic, nothing stops this from being a bad coaster. The coaster jerks its way through every element. It feels like someone keeps tapping on the breaks. Generally, we are not the harshest of critics. However, with T3, it is just a mess. If enjoyment can be had from this ride it comes from it being so bad, it’s good. Like a cult classic movie that you watch with friends.

Kentucky Kingdom Roller Coasters Number 5 is Roller Skater.

Roller Skater in ones of its Helix elements. Kentucky Kingdom Roller Coasters are impressive. Even the kids coaster has cool elements.

Usually, the kid coaster would be last. Because of how bad T3 is, and the strength of Roller Skater, that isn’t the case here. It won’t win any awards with forces but where it lacks in intensity it makes up for in presentation. The trains are beautiful, the terrain is lush, and since younger kids can ride it there is tons of fun for families.

4. Thunder Run

Thunder Run has these great turn arounds. This one right in the line gives such great presentation.

Every park needs a classic wooden coaster. Kentucky Kingdom Roller Coasters has a fun one with Thunder Run. An inventive layout that has the trains keep making sharper and sharper turnarounds makes this a unique coaster of its kind. Some decent airtime also helps make this a fun classic wooden coaster.

3. Lightning Run

Lightning Run about to head into its finale.

Lightning Run is considered a budget coaster. Meaning that it was built for a third of the price of the coasters it is trying to emulate. Money well spent! Since this ride is a park favorite and for a good reason. This is one of the most aggressive coasters we have ever ridden. Every element absolutely rocks. The only reason it sits at number three for us is that the restraints are tight and make for an uncomfortable experience. Lightning Run is so aggressive that you will be constantly flung into those restraints. Each time it causes pain.

Kentucky Kingdom Roller Coasters may lack in size but they are some of the most intense coasters out there.

The fact that lightning Run is the third-best coaster in the park speaks so highly of the Kentucky Kingdom Roller Coasters. This airtime machine constantly has a full line waiting to ride it. It is by far the most popular ride in the park. One incredible ride but with the restraints hard to marathon. More parks should invest in this line of Chance Morgan Hypers.

2. Kentucky Flyer

Kentucky Flyer going down its first drop.

When planning our first trip to Kentucky Kingdom this was barely on our radar. We travel to parks to ride the big ones, not the family coasters. Even when I was sitting on the ride we weren’t expecting much. That is until it went over the first hill and you got flung hard into the restraint. Don’t be fooled by the size of this one. A family coaster that has great ejector and floater airtime!

Kentucky Flyer may be the best family coaster we have ever ridden. It is aggressive enough to be thrilling for even seasoned coaster enthusiasts. But it is small enough and never so fast as to scare away the kids from riding it. Kentucky Flyer has that perfect balance.

The crown jewel of the collection goes to Storm Chaser!

To be considered a good destination park you need a masterpiece. Kentucky Kingdom Roller Coasters for sure has it in this Rocky Mountain Construction airtime machine! As coaster enthusiasts, we never get to ride a coaster that was obviously built for us. There can be no doubt that we were the target audience for this ride. This may be the most aggressive roller coaster we have ever ridden. Every element feels like it is trying to kill you. Which by the way is a good thing in our book!

The pacing on this never lets up. The first drop has a barrel roll on it. This means that instead of a standard first drop it has a corkscrew built into it! Storm Chaser never gives you a moment to catch your breath. Your trip to Kentucky Kingdom is worth it just to experience this masterpiece.

Kentucky Kingdom Roller Coasters Wrap Up

With only six coasters this isn’t a huge collection. Because of the restrictions on height, there isn’t one behemoth or speed machine to wow with stats. However, they wisely opted to go with aggressive coasters to make up for it. We highly recommend Kentucky Kingdom based solely on its roller coaster collection.
