Dasher’s Seahorses at Holiday World

Dasher’s Seahorses at Holiday World has been in operation since the 70s. This is like a merry-go-round that gives a little sway when the ride gets going. It is located in Rudolph’s Reindeer Ranch and should please any young thrill-seekers.

Dasher’s Seahorses Rider Experience

Young thrill-seekers need to be less than 54 inches in order to ride. They will be kept safe by a belt that goes around them that is attached to the Seahorse. This is single seating only, so no doubling up. Once the ride attendant has checked each child’s restraint the spinning can begin! There are 8 Seahorses in total that will spin around the structure. The Seahorses are suspended and give a little sway once the ride gets going. The fun lasts around 45 seconds, then will begin to slow. When the ride has come to a complete stop it is safe for them to exit.

Dasher’s Seahorses: The Good

Kid rides rarely get extra points from us for originality. We cannot recall ever seeing a ride quite like Dasher’s Seahorses before. Them being attached at the top and giving a good sway is very unique. To be clear this isn’t swaying like crazy. This is meant for young kids so it isn’t out of control. Yet what it does helps set this one apart from the other normal batch of kid rides.

While the theming of Seahorses to Santa’s Reindeer is a little suspect we can let that go. Because the kids really love the seahorses. Something that is common with older rides at Holiday World is how well-maintained their rides are. This doesn’t look like a kid ride from the 70s. The maintenance crew at Holiday World are the best.

Dasher's Seahorses getting a pretty big line.

The Bad

Kids can only ride alone. The best thing for kid rides is to allow adults to ride with them. If that cannot happen then at least allow them to ride with a sibling or friend. To make matter worse is that only 8 riders each cycle. It can make this a long wait on busy days.

Final Verdict

Dasher’s Seahorses is a great addition to Holiday World. Very unique to the normal batch of kid rides. The only issue is that it has very low capacity. Still, this one brings the charm and is one that seems to be very popular with its target audience. Because of these reasons Dashers’ Seahorses get an eight and a half out of ten.
