Six Flags STL Ride Removals is not what I wanted to be writing about today. The Six Flags chain announced that each park would be losing one ride. Seems that the powers that be didn’t look kindly on Six Flags St. Louis this year since we are losing two rides.
Six Flags STL Ride Removals: The Death of Superman.
First up to be demolished will be Superman Tower of Power. The Intamin Drop tower had been operating since 2005. Superman wasn’t operating much, so I cannot say this comes as a huge shock. While it isn’t shocking, it is very disappointing. Superman Tower of Power was one of my favorite Flat Rides at the park. That free-fall drop of 230 ft. will be missed. RIP Superman.
Six Flags STL Ride Removals: Moon Cars are Stalled
Second up is a sad one. The Moon Antique Cars are also going to be removed. The Moon cars go all the way back to the day the park opened. While fifty years is a long time, I wish they had seen more. This classic ride had up to 5 riders climb into an old-fashioned car and drive around on a guided track.
Same thing as with Superman. While I am saddened I cannot say that I am overly surprised. Moon Cars used to be a long leisurely ride. Yet more, and more renovations came for its track. The last making the drive around one minute. I was hoping they would give it a different plot of land, and give them the respect that it deserved. Alas, management went another way.
Catwoman delayed till 2022
The other bad news is that Catwoman Whip is going to be delayed by another year. Originally meant to make her first appearance in 2020, but due to the pandemic, it was decided to delay till 2021. Yet, again Catwoman is going to be delayed by one more year. It finally opened in 2022 and was worth the wait. Read our review for Catwoman Whip here Catwoman Whip at Six Flags St. Louis – (themeparkcoastercrazy.com).
Normally I’m not very excited about the addition of a new flat ride. Six Flags St. Louis gets made fun of constantly that it is a park of cloned rides, and coasters. I don’t think that is fair, but I do know why that gets tossed out there so much. Catwoman Whip certainly looks unique. Will have to wait one more year to find out if the two-year wait has been worth it.
Opening day is March 20th
The opening of Six Flags St. Louis is tinged with sadness at the loss of two beloved rides. Yet the other fan favorites will be there to thrill and entertain guests. All the current covid restrictions still apply. You will need a mask, and make a reservation to visit in 2021.
If you have any memories, or thoughts on these fallen soldiers, share them in the comments. If you liked this post or found it helpful then please consider sharing with your friends, family, or fellow theme park enthusiast.
Thanks to Show Me Coasters on breaking this sad news to me.
