Mack Rides is a German Amusement Rides designer and Manufacturer. Whatever the ride type, Mack Rides does it all. Drop towers, dark rides, log flumes, and of course roller coasters. If parks are wanting to build a family, water, or a multi-launch roller coaster then Mack Rides can help.
Mack Rides History
Originally started by Paul Mack when he began manufacturing carriages and stagecoaches in the 1870s. The company made its debut in the amusement industry with Turmbahn for Tivoli Gardens in 1921. Turmbahn was a side friction wooden roller coaster. Their portfolio expanded till eventually, they decided to start their own park.
Mack Rides builds Europa-Park
Europa-Park opened is one of the most popular and largest theme parks in all of Europe. It is here that Mack Rides can test out some of their own models. Coasters take an incredible amount of money and time to develop. Having a home park that you can design and implement it in gives them a huge advantage. Whenever a coaster manufacturer has a new concept it will exist only in a computer, or they will build a working mini prototype if possible. But with Mack, they can build it for their own park. Then based on the success of that sell that model to other parks.
Mack Rides Roller Coasters of note: Journey to Atlantis at Sea World Orlando
Since Mack Rides builds every kind of amusement ride they can blur some lines. Journey to Atlantis is a roller coaster, but it is so much more. A Dark ride and a water ride help really set this one apart. The impressive theming can be seen from the outside but gets more impressive as you get a closer look. Journey to Atlantis has been entertaining and cooling off riders since 1998.
Blue Fire at Europa-Park
Mack Rides is one of the best when it comes to Launching roller coasters. Blue Fire was their first to incorporate launching. Shooting out from 0 to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds, this one packs a punch. Blue Fire has been launching thrill-seekers since 2009.
Arthur at Europa-Park
Arthur blurs the line between dark ride and roller coaster. Whatever Arthur lacks in intensity it makes up for it in originality. Inverted and spinning this coaster really is a unique experience. Arthur has been delighting families since 2014.
Cobra’s Curse at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
Again the fact that Mack Rides is so versatile helps out another coaster. Cobra’s Curse has impressive theming throughout. A very rare elevator lift hill is how they get this one started. Then fun and spinning are the main courses. Cobra’s Curse has been spinning and thrilling families since 2016.
Slinky Dog Dash at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
When Disney was looking for a highly themed multi-launcher they went to the pros. While Slinky Dog Dash has multiple launches this isn’t a thrill coaster. Like most roller coasters at Disney, this is a family ride. Whatever it lacks in intensity it more than makes up for it in concept and theme. Slinky Dog Dash has been launching and entertaining families since 2018.
Time Traveler at Silver Dollar City
Time Traveler has just about everything that Mack Rides does and it does it right. From the incredible first drop to the launching every aspect of this “Xtreme Spinning Coaster” is done with quality. Time Traveler has been disorientating and thrilling riders since 2018.
Copperhead Strike at Carowinds
Copperhead Strike is another Launch coaster from one of the best in the business. However, this one is more about Hang-time during inversions than about speed. As you would expect great theming throughout helps enhance the experience. Copperhead Strike has been hanging thrill-seekers upside-down since 2019.
Mack Rides will continue to innovate and entertain.
The future looks very bright for Mack Rides. Their own Europa-Park shows no signs of slowing down. Recently they have sold quite a few PowerSplash models. So whenever a park is looking for a highly themed coaster then Mack will be considered. Whether it is for families or thrill-seekers they do something for everyone. Theme Parks are always improved when Mack Rides gets the job.
