Aquaman Power Wave at Six Flags Over Texas 2023

Aquaman Power Wave at Six Flags Over Texas is set to open in 2023. Designed and manufactured by Mack Rides. Will be the park’s 14th roller coaster and will be the only coaster of its kind in the US.

Aquaman Power Wave Delays

Originally announced to open in 2020. Once Six Flags ceased operations because of Pandemic concerns this project got put on hold. It has been announced to open by the park for 2020, 2021, 2022, and now 2023. The reason for the delay in 2022 was because of supply chain issues. While this has been maddening for guests at Six Flags Over Texas, waiting for their new coaster to open, there is a silver lining.

Originally announced it was only going to run one train. With all the delays the park has decided to build a turntable station. This will allow a second train to be loading the next riders as the first are having a splash. This single decision will save this ride from being a capactiy nightmare.

Aquaman Power Wave Ride Experience and Specs

Once the train is loaded and all restraints have been checked, the turntable station will rotate 180 degrees into the launch position. Then in a series of LSM launches backward and forwards that will get the train up to 63 mph! This shuttle coaster will take you spikes at opposite ends, with a bunny hill, and a splashdown section in the middle. The ride has a total track length of 700 feet and will reach heights of 148 feet! The total ride should take around 2 minutes to complete. Riders will be brought back into the station at the turntable. They will cycle off while the next boat is launching.

Will be worth the Wait

For sure, the guest at Six Flags Over Texas have lost their patience with this ride. However, we bet that once this opens it is going to be a huge hit for the park. There isn’t an element on this coaster that isn’t exciting. Multiple launches will have some power. 63 mph is going to feel fast! With the spikes, splashdown, and bunny hill providing airtime, this should please those that have been rightfully so frustrated at the wait for this. The addition of the turntable station will ensure that the line won’t crawl when it opens.

Final Thoughts

Our only reservations about Aquaman Power Wave are two elements that could cause it to be a problematic roller coaster. Launch coasters break down quite a bit. If anything goes wrong with the Turntable the ride will have to shut down. Both those elements make us wonder how often this ride will be down for maintenance. Hopefully, none of it will be a concern once this finally opens in 2023. All in all, we think this is going to be a great addition to the park. Adding this 14th coaster will make this a park that all thrill seekers will need to visit.
