Cedar Point New Roller Coaster for 2023 is going to be a Zamperla family spinning coaster. Wild Mouse will be the headline attraction for the new Boardwalk-themed area that Cedar Point is currently building up. Let’s look at what this new coaster and area will have to offer.
Cedar Point New Roller Coaster Wild Mouse
With a height of 52 feet and a max speed of 35 mph, this is going to be not the typical record-busting coaster we expect from Cedar Point. That is okay since this is going to be geared towards families, which is a demographic that their coaster lineup has ignored for too long. Ensuring more families the park has made the minimum height to 42 inches! Those at 42 will have to be accompanied by an adult, and only 48 inches to ride alone.
Wild Mouse is the perfect theme to give a coaster to fit a boardwalk theme. Almost every boardwalk ever has a Wild Mouse roller coaster. Shaped to fit a small plot of land, they usually offer small dips and tight turns. However, this new Wild Mouse roller coaster is a little different. It looks inspired by the Wild Mouse rides of the past but brings its own twist seeing as the cars will spin!
Cedar Point New Roller Coaster will spin but how much?
Spinning coasters come in two flavors. Either they will be controlled or free-form. Controlled is where an onboard computer will control the spin and will ensure it never gets spinning too crazy, or not spinning at all. Then free-form means it is free to spin as little or as much as physics is going to let it. This will mean that no two rides will be equal on Wild Mouse. Tip if you want to spin make sure the car has people sitting with unequal weight distribution. Or if it is a milder ride you are looking for then do the opposite.
What concerns Us
If you have ever been to Cedar Point you will know that the place is hopping all the time. Most coasters, even the less popular ones, will have long wait times on most days. Wild Mouse type coasters even at smaller parks are notorious for having long wait times. We are very concerned about what kind of capacity Cedar Point is going to be able to provide with this new roller coaster. The fun day at a theme park will quickly sour if they spend hours waiting in line.
More than just a Roller Coaster is coming!
While a new roller coaster gets everyone excited there is more to love here. There will be some rides getting rethemed and refreshed but the exciting new addition will be the Grand Pavilion. This majestic new addition will seat tons of people looking to eat, drink, or just gaze at the beautiful sight this park has to offer. There will be some traditional theme park food but this will also offer options found nowhere else in the park.
Final Thoughts
The whole new area is going to bring a lot of attention to this area once it opens in 2023. While this isn’t exactly the 500-foot coaster some of us were hoping for this seems like a wise investment for the park. Cedar Point has tons of record-breaking coasters but light on the family ones. What remains to be seen is how the park is going to keep the wait times to a manageable level.
