Boomerang at Worlds of Fun has been in operation since 2000. Designed and Manufactured by Vekoma from their Boomerang line. This steel coaster sits on the plot of land and even reuses the same old station as the parks now removed coaster Zambezi Zinger. This cloned coaster may be in most theme parks across the country, but still, this offers a fun ride.
Boomerang at Worlds of Fun Experience
Boomerang at Worlds of Fun is located in the Africa section of the park. Just past Zulu and the park’s excellent Prowler. Since Boomerang is locked into one train, it means that it can get a long line a couple of hours after opening. We recommend that you get your rides on Boomerang early, otherwise the wait can get quite long. Riders must be at least 48 inches tall to get in on the fun. An over-the-shoulder restraint will keep all riders safe through the six inversions. Once the ride attendant has checked all restraints, the fun can begin!

The fun begins with a cable pulling the train out of the station backward. That cable lets go at 116 feet sending the train hurling through the station into a cobra roll, and then into a traditional loop, and back into another lift hill. Another cable will haul the train up a little before releasing it again. The train will now make it through the course backward. The train will slow and come to a complete stop inside the station. Once it does the ride attendant will give the all-clear. Now you are good to remove your restraint, and exit the ride safely.
Boomerang at Worlds of Fun: The Good
Boomerangs have been cloned to death. However, we think they are good clones that offer a fun and thrilling experience. They take up a very small space and pack in a dizzying 6 inversions. They get a bad wrap. While we are hardly super excited to ride another Boomerang, with every ride on them we remember how awesome they are.
All six inversions are great but there is a standout. Going through the traditional loop backward is such a unique experience. You will feel it in the gut a sensation that we have only ever felt on these coasters. It is truly an outstanding element and is worth riding any Boomerang just to experience that again.

Worlds of Fun is a very pretty park. The highlight is the Africa section of the park. Boomerang fits in so well here. The entrance sign is nice and the land it sits on makes for great photo opportunities. It can be really fun just being so close to the coaster. Often it is hard to see people going through loops so up close. Boomerang is wide open, with nothing hidden from view.
The Bad
Sorry to repeat ourselves, but Boomerangs have been cloned to death. This doesn’t make them a bad coaster. Though it does have the effect of not being special. Coasters are at their best when built to fit their specific plot of land. Using the terrain to make one exciting element extend to the next. Boomerangs by design are meant to fit anywhere. This doesn’t make them bad, as a matter of fact, they are good, but if you travel to a lot of parks you will ride a ton of these.

This specific Boomerang felt a little less comfortable than other models we have ridden. Just a little rougher around the edges. Which has a bad effect on the restraints. These Vekoma over-the-shoulder restraints are some of the worst. They are restrictive and make it easy to knock your head around.
The line on these can crawl. Just from how the coaster is designed it can only accommodate one train. If you visit the park on a really busy day then just expect to wait a good amount of time for this one.
Final Verdict
Boomerang at Worlds of Fun is a great addition to the park. It packs in a lot of fun in such a small plot of land. Worth riding just for the backward loop. Yes, it isn’t original, and it is a little rough. Though that doesn’t stop this ride from providing a thrilling and fun experience. Because of these reasons, Boomerang at Worlds of Fun gets an seven out of ten.
