Scarecrow Scrambler at Holiday World has been in operation since 1976. Designed and manufactured by the Eli Bridge Company from their Scrambler line. This classic is still giving great rides. Anyone who likes to spin will love this ride.
Scarecrow Scrambler Rider Experience
Guest over 48 inches can ride. Those that are above 36 inches can ride with an adult supervisor. Once you get into the ride, you can pick whichever car you like. Scramblers don’t ride any better depending on which car you choose. You will be kept safe by a seatbelt and a locking door which can be closed once all are inside the car. Up to three riders per car.
Once the ride attendant has checked that all safety restraints are properly secured the fun begins. From here the typical Scrambler ride takes place. Four Cars will spin around which are connected to three other sections of cars. The ride is a combination of great lateral forces and near-miss encounters with the other cars. In total the ride last about 2 minutes. Once Scarecrow Scrambler comes to a complete stop you can safely exit the ride.
Scarecrow Scrambler: The Good
The combination of laterals that Scramblers offer never gets old. Every time you whip back to the other side it feels very satisfying. Though we think it is the near-miss elements that really make these so much fun to ride. Scramblers are spinning rides but that isn’t quite right. The sense of motion they give off doesn’t seem to make those sensitive to spinning quite so queasy. At least that is our experience.
Also, the theming is fun, if not exactly important. The paint job though is great! That orange, green, and black really are eye-catching. Just like most of Holiday World’s collection of old rides, this one is kept in great shape.
The Bad
Scarecrow Scrambler has the same problem as many other flat rides. This does one thing over and over again. No variation to mix up the forces. This is the case with every scrambler and not just an issue with this ride.
Final Verdict
Scarecrow Scrambler is a great addition to Holiday World. While there is nothing here that makes this model stand out among the others it also doesn’t screw anything up. If you love pretty intense rides that kids can ride then you should check this out. Because of these reasons Scarecrow Scrambler gets an eight and a half out of ten.
