Hallowswings at Holiday World

HallowSwings at Holiday World

HallowSwings at Holiday World have been in operation since 2003. Designed and manufactured by Zamperla from their flying carousel model. These swings offer a fun time for those that love to spin.

HallowSwings Rider Experience

Riders will walk through an average-size queue line. Once it is your turn to ride, you can choose between two-sized seats based on what is comfortable for you. There is only single seating here which means no one can sit together. But the seats are close enough that it still feels like you are riding with your group. Riders are secured by a seatbelt and a bar that will come down over you once you are sat down. The ride op will come by and check your restraint. Once all are checked the fun will begin.

As the ride begins to spin your seat will rise up some. Once the ride is at full speed then the swings will begin to tilt. The tower that the swings are attached to sits on an axis which allows this ride to tilt left then right. After cycling through that a couple of times the ride will begin to slow down. Your swing will lower to the ground. Once it comes to a complete stop you will be able to undo your restraints and exit safely.

HallowSwings: The Good

Almost every theme park has a swing set so what helps set HallowSwings apart? The design on the ride itself being Halloween-themed is very unique. The attention to detail in the paintings is pretty. Also if you ever get the chance to see this one lit up at night time it will take your breath away.

Flat rides that just do the same thing over and over get old very fast. With HallowSwings that is avoided by how it tilts. You never feel like the ride is only doing the same thing. Additionally, the sense of speed is pretty great, since it stays lower to the ground than a lot of other models.

Bats, skulls, witches, ghost and the mummy help decorate this ride.

The Bad

We don’t have much bad to say about what this ride does. It is more with what it doesn’t. The minimum height for these is 48 inches. That is pretty high for a swing ride at a theme park. So younger kids will have to sit this one out. Also, the fact that this is only single seating is a bummer. Swings are better when you can sit in a double seat with someone from your group.

Final Verdict

HallowSwings at Holiday World is a solid addition to the park. It looks fantastic in day time but shines brighter at night. Minor complaints about height restrictions and no double seating won’t kill the experience for most. If you love to spin then this ride is a must when visiting Holiday World. Because of these reasons HallowSwings gets an eight out of ten.
