Justice League: Battle for Metropolis at SFSTL

Justice League: Battle For Metropolis is a 4D dark ride that has been operating at Six Flags St. Louis since 2015. It was one of the two original installations of Justice League. The other being at Six Flags over Texas which did open first. For Six Flags the theming is about the best I have ever seen. The only other ride I can remember Six Flags putting as much thought into would have been Batman the Ride.

Justice League: Battle for Metropolis: Theming on a Six Flags budget

To be clear, this isn’t a Disney attraction. It’s a Six Flags attraction. But by those standards, I think they did an incredibly good job. From the look of the building to the queue line, there are little details everywhere. DC Superhero Cyborg is even there to help bring you up to speed on the situation in Metropolis. The Justice League has been kidnapped, and it is up to you and five other people, to help liberate the heroes.

Justice League: Battle for Metropolis: Details and Analysis

The ride itself is a dark rider shooter. It has a combination of animatronics and Screens to flesh out the story and the fun. The 3-D effect is excellent. I cannot say that the animation itself is all that spectacular but it serviceable. Just looks like they went a little cheaper in that department, or they are just not aging well. The practical effects and animatronics look better. But my favorite aspect of Justice League is the great motion-based vehicles. How they interact with the animation to give a greater sense of motion is most impressive. There is a great moment when the combination of the motion of the car, and the animation on the screen makes you think you are going through a loop!

It makes for a very fun ride that the whole family can enjoy. You do have to be 48 inches or taller to ride by yourself, but little ones who are 42 inches or above can ride as long as they are accompanied by an adult. A single rider line really helps with the capacity! Such a great idea and glad Six Flags is using that.

Final Verdict

Get your family, or group of friends together, talk some trash, and just have fun with this great ride. Justice League has one of the most consistently long lines at Six Flags St. Louis. I don’t say that as a bad thing. Long queue lines are where you can tell what rides are popular. This line happens to be well-themed and air-conditioned!

On a scale of one to ten, I would give Justice League: Battle for Metropolis a 8.

Pros: Real theming from a Six Flags ride, runs even when it is raining, animatronics, single rider line

Cons: Animations are outdated
