Shazam at Six Flags St. Louis is the only amusement ride in the country by that name. Shazam! (yes, that exclamation is in the actual title) is its current name because it does sit in the DC comics Plaza. Yet the ride has very little theming to back that up. Most people at the park still call it Scrambler, with a couple of El Toros thrown in. Regardless of the rebranding, Shazam! built by the Eli Bridge Company is a fun ride that packs good thrills into a small plot of land.
Shazam! at Six Flags Review
This is your basic carnival scrambler. Nothing is outstanding about this one, but nothing is wrong with it.
The lighting package at nighttime is pretty good. The sense of speed as this gets going makes this a ride my family and I won’t miss. Sitting in different cars and making faces as your car goes zooming past theirs is a blast.
Another thing I love about Shazam! is that anyone over 36 inches, accompanied by a rider 48 inches tall, can join the fun. It’s one of the better thrills rides at Six Flags St. Louis that a little one can ride. Outside of that, you know what you’re going to get. If you like to be scrambled, then there’s no reason this one won’t do the trick.
Final Verdict
It was first introduced in 1972. One of many rides to be added in Six Flags St. Louis’s second year of operations. I like it, and you probably will too. Just don’t expect it to do anything above a normal scrambler. On a scale of one to ten, I will give Shazam! an 8.
Pros: classic ride for a reason, Good thrill for younger kids, usually a quick line
Cons: Being called Shazam!
Interesting fact: If you look at the safety insert in the cars, you will see that it refers to the ride you are sitting in as Scrambler.
