Tom & Huck’s RiverBlast at Silver Dollar City

Tom & Huck’s RiverBlast has been in operation at Silver Dollar City since 2010. Designed and manufactured by Mack Rides from their River Battle model. This is a tremendous amount of fun for everyone in your group. That is of course as long as the park is pretty full and decently hot that day. Silver Dollar City designed just about every aspect of Tom & Huck’s RiverBlast to perfection.

Tom & Huck’s RiverBlast Rider Experience

You enter the well-themed queue area. The fun starts even before getting to the ride. They designed it intentionally so that those already on the boats could squirt (with some difficulty) those still waiting. Once you are ready to ride, up to 8 people at a time can enter the boat. Your loose articles get stored in a compartment on the boat, so no concern there. Now it is your turn to try and squirt those still waiting in the queue!

Once you are in the main course of the ride you have a couple of different things going on. First, you will be trying to squirt people not riding. Some at water guns trying to get you, and some just innocent people walking by. You will also have to contend with all the other boats. It makes for a long ride but is filled to the brim with different, and fun, interactions.

Lastly, your boat will come back to the station. Gather up your loose articles and walk away soaked. The fun can continue if you would wish. The way out of the ride is filled with tons of different paths having more water guns to bombard the riders still in the boats!

Tom & Huck's RiverBlast Boats look like a boat that Tom and Huck would have used. 8 Water guns for the 8 spaces for guest to sit.
Great theming to just about every aspect of Tom & Huck’s RiverBlast.

Tom & Huck’s RiverBlast: The Good

Basically, if you come anywhere near Tom & Huck’s RiverBlast then you are a part of the ride experience. It was so much fun that after I got off the boat I was able to then hurry up to another water gun and start getting the boats that were just squirting me. It is just so immersive. Tom and Huck’s theme is such a good fit for this park. They did such a great job of really nailing the theming on this one. From the boats to the area that surrounds it. You feel transported to another time.

The loose articles policy was a tremendous idea. The ride has really good capacity because they get those boats loaded fast. The boat comes into the station. They unload it. Then the next group gets in and the boat leaves the station. The line moves fast because Mack Rides and Silver Dollar City did such a good job of thinking of ways to make it go fast.

We had so much fun with Tom & Huck’s RiverBlast. A good 30 minutes of fun. We didn’t even want to exit the area because there was still so much to do. We cannot wait to get back on a hot day and take another trip down the river.

The boat is well themed, going down a river and town surrounding that is well themed.
Tom & Huck’s RiverBlast has an incredible amount of detail.

The Bad

The only bad thing is how will you experience the ride. It is an absolute blast if the park is full and the weather is hot. If both those things are not true then this ride is a dud. I had been to Silver Dollar City a couple of times and wasn’t impressed with this ride at all. Then we went on a really busy and hot day. Then I understood this ride’s brilliance. Theme parks invest a lot of money into rides. Having a ride like this that can only do its job if enough conditions are met is really tough. Though to this rides credit. When the park is the busiest is when this ride will shine and entertain. You need full boats to shoot at. Also if there isn’t a ton of people off the ride to interact with then this ride will not be special.

Final Verdict

Tom & Huck’s RiverBlast is a huge amount of fun. Even on busy days, you can immediately start having fun. Of course, the hope is that it is a busy day otherwise this river feels abandoned. Still with its immersive theming and an overload of things to do makes this ride is in fact an absolute blast! Because of these reasons, Tom & Huck’s RiverBlaston a scale of one to ten gets a nine.
